Galaxy General manager and Head Coach Bruce Arena has issued the following statement regarding the transfer rumors surrounding David Beckham...
“Today's deadline imposed by Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber regarding a resolution of David Beckham's potential transfer to AC Milan has passed and we did not receive an acceptable offer for the player. As a result, David remains an LA Galaxy player and we look forward to having him back with the club starting March 9.”

Actually, I believe that is Tim Lieweke's and AEG's statement; not, Bruce Arena's. This has a high chance of being bad for the LA Galaxy, bad for MLS, bad, especially, for all of the fans... and bad for the product in HDC. It will turn rank fast when the season begins. Honestly, I believe that Tim & AEG thought (personally) they deserved more; and, they may have thought they could get more from a historic, traditional, monumental century-old organization, like AC MIlan. Pride & Vanity knows no bounds!!!
Ok, but there is a chance that this could go very well. A healthy DB may make a very different splash than the hobbled one a couple of years ago.
I think Uncle Phil will not be made a fool of. He has the guts to stand up to these ill-mannered public forrays by Beckham and Milan. David will be back, Donovan will be back and both will be booted out at the end of the season.
Stick to your guns Uncle, we're with you. You helped build this league and this team and we will never forget that.
Long live the Galaxy and MLS.
Beckham, healthy or not is not the answer to the Galaxy's woes. I would like to see David stay in Europe and the Galaxy take a couple of years to rebuild.
Good Move. He has to play well if he wants to make the English National team, so we should see more effort out of him this year than last. If he wants to go to the World Cup then he has to be in the mix come January, if not his hopes of making the team are slim.
I don't see him opting out of his contract if he does come back, he will lose too much money and be one year older.
David Beckham is completely UN-AMERICAN for going there in the first place!
You, bunch of amateurs, let Beckam go back to Europe! Why on earth should he stay in this mediocre team?
LA Galaxy has killed Beckham England career. This is bad for football. All LA Galaxy wants is lots of money in return of releasing Beckham. Greedy!!!
You are a bunch of amateurs! Beckam back to EUROPE!!!
Becks killed his nation team status not us, he came here on his own will. The LA Galaxy did not force his hand, and AC doesn't really want him or they would have put in an offer higher than the 10 million we wanted. Then they could have thrown a couple youth players are way on loan, scheduled a friendly here. If they wanted him they would have gotten him...so shut up with the complaints about Becks national status, and England will be lucky to make it past the first round anyways.
Justin
Poor Becks. Dragged back to the dismal prospect of more donkey football after top level high adrenalin games at AC Milan. He's done what he can for a hopeless cause. One great player doesn't make a team. Typical troll behaviour that we have learned to expect from American business. Well, it's not a sport, just a business opportunity for you guys isn't it? I suppose you have cheer leaders (yuk!) to further demean the beautiful game.
Anonymous, of course David Beckham is un-American. News: most of the world is un-American and extremely happy to be so. I am and we take tha as a huge compliment. He didn't go there in the first place he came from there, remeber? here is a world outside America! As I live in LA, for the time being, I would love to see him play here although of course the Galaxy as a football team cannot be taken seriously. For his sake, the sake of football and the England team it would be much better for him to stay in Eurpope. Has anbody noticed FSC has televised every AC Milan match since he has been there. We luv U Becks. See u on TV or at HDC,
i don't think this is the end of the drama.. watch next week or in couple of weeks when ac milan outbiddin for beckham n don garber's greedy eyes see $$$ n galaxy end up sellin him...i say ac milan will bid around 10 million euros.. i think for a beckham as a player he would be better off in milan but as a fan of galaxy we would be thrilled to see him play here and keep the soccer alive here... ppl criticizin about beckham didn't lift his team on shoulder.. they should know that he did lift his team on shoulder as his team is ranked 1st in the most lethal offense in mls.. and he was the key instruement in that offense..u can't blame him on the bad defense.. defense was playin with players out of position like klein on rb n franklin rookie rb as cb so go figure.. beckham has helped grow the soccer in united states in terms of popularity and awareness and ppl shouldn't say that his career in mls was a failure.. long live beckham n prepare to see more glories...
I'm am so proud of the league and the team for sticking up for themselves and the fans. I have no problem letting David go, even though it saddens me, but pay us what he's worth as a player, and most importantly, pay us what he's worth in lost marketing!! Football is a business and finally the Galaxy made the right decision. If David wants England, then he's gonna have to prove it on the field, that's good for the Galaxy. If David plans to leave, then let's get the PR started and sell some last game tickets, that's a benefit to our league. But mainly its a benefit to his fans...because we get one last year with our star and we'll get the closure we deserve. Thank you Galaxy for making me a proud fan again and sticking to your guns on this one. The club, its fans and the league are what matters most......thank you for ending the circus by putting your foot down!!!! Well done. Now let's get all the lads back on the practice field March 9th and let's make this team what it deserves to be....."The Team" of the League once again.
You bunch of Euro whiners!!! You think AC Milan should get what they want just because...
I'm glad AEG have stood up to Milan. If they aren't willing to negotiate with respect, then screw 'em.
I am a very big David Beckham fan but, right know i am very disappointed in him and on the next offer if any that AC Milan makes they should trade him and let the Galaxy teach the euro that we can win without David Beckham. we as American are better then to begg somebody to stay and play for us.
