Postgame Notes

We'll have quotes for you in the AM, but for now, a couple of quick notes to wrap up the night.

  • Donovan Ricketts was rested after feeling his left hamstring tighten up after training on Tuesday. He will continue to work with the training staff this week to get ready for Saturday's game.
  • Three of the Galaxy's four draft picks made appearances tonight, with Omar Gonzalez playing the full 90 minutes in central defense and A.J. DeLaGarza and Kyle Patterson coming on in the second half.
  • Additionally, offseason acquisitions Dema Kovalenko, Mike Magee, Stefani Miglioranzi and Tony Sanneh all made their competitive debuts for the club.
  • Sean Franklin got the start at right back less than a month after undergoing bi-lateral hernia surgery.
  • Since being re-acquired by the Galaxy in November, Jovan Kirovski has played in two games for the club, scoring in each.
  • Edson Buddle scored the game-winner, coming almost a year after he broke his collarbone in the Pan-Pacific Third Place Game in Sydney last year.
  • Buddle and Kirovski join Ely Allen and Josh Tudela as the four Galaxy players to have scored in the PPC.
  • Josh Wicks did not allow a goal in the game. He has now played 180 minutes in three games in the history of the tournament and is yet to surrender a goal.
  • Eddie Lewis wore the captain's armband for the first time in his Galaxy career.
  • Josh Saunders and Yohance Marshall were the two unused players off the bench for Bruce Arena.
  • Saturday's game against Suwon will be the Galaxy's first tournament final since reaching the SuperLiga Final in August 2007.

Finally 1st broadcast (preseason) game of the season.

It was good to see them play. most of them making their unofficial debut and advance to the final..

shame about the lack of people who showed up, just give away free tickets to locals, school and kids or so.

can't wait for the next games, aswell as some roster trimming.

clearly the opposition was not really a threat, however it was good to see the bite of Kovalenko and the Young/Old Centerback paring especially.

Did Magee change from 20 to 18 on purpose ? (because it became a vacant number or because the kitman made a mistake)

Hopefully we'll use the DarkBlue Uniforms more often now!

Before we jump to any conclusions, lets see how they do against Quality teams.

surely these 3 teams from Asia are NOT Quality sides so we cant really see our real test.

Wow, talk about a boring game. We scored on the other teams mistakes, its not like we actually produced any real chances of our own though offense. Heck what offense!!! The only positive about the game was the team defense we played.....finally we got some center backs who can win balls in the air!! Great to see Franklin at right back though his passing in the attack needs to improve. I'm a huge fan of Klein but it looks like his days are numbered....could he move any slower!! Glad to see old horse Sanneh still has something left in the tank. I thought he played well. But honestly, I'm soooo not looking forward to this season.....what's a galaxy when there's no stars...oh yeah...its called boring black hole football!! I'd sell my soul to have Lando and Becks just one more year right now. Especially now that we have the makings of a real defense...oh well....here's to what could have been :( I think this year I'll root for my hometown team the Fire....cause the Galaxy just bore me.

I ask again, where is the skill on this team? Don't say in Europe 'cause even with them it will not be enough. I liked the husstle though, keep it up.

Anonymous, the J-League is superior to MLS. This was a good showing for the Galaxy. Even if it is only preseason.

Yeah you'll be missed. This is preseason, it doesnt matter if the G's play well or poorly. Ill judge how good the guys are the first couple of regular season games.
