Day One for Dema

Dema Kovalenko made his Galaxy training debut this afternoon and he appears to have brought some inclement weather with him from the East Coast. A cold and steady rain fell at The Home Depot Center throughout the morning session, that saw the team broken up into groups with half of the guys working on attacking play and finishing, and the other half working on defensive shape and starting the attack from the back.

The day finished with the team being broken up into three teams to play a series of small small sided games.

Welcome to LA, Dema. I hope that you are rested, ready, and your mind and energy focused to grasp a hold of the spirit and attitude behind this team. LA needs the rain. I'm not going to complain. Besides this is nothing compared to what many other cities all over the US have to put up with 7 - 8 months out of the year. Players, Coaches, Staff, and Trainers should focus on the soccer skills, abilities, and outcomes - not the consequence of "less-than-ideal" weather. At the pro-level, people are contracted and paid to focus on SOCCER, and the science and art of it.

I hope all of the players are really studying, learning, and taking in what the coaches & trainers expect. Offense & Defense - both are vital! Players have got to be aware, alert, and ready to do both. Again, pre-season has only started... however, don't expect that other teams (opponents) are just sitting back. Players must constantly check their fitness, endurance, and playing levels. They have to take it upon themselves to plan, navigate, and play out how they should progress.

How about that list of players and their kit numbers you said you were going to put up!
