· Ruud Gullit made four changes to his team that lost 2-1 to New England on Friday, July 4. Sean Franklin, Alan Gordon, Alvaro Pires and Abel Xavier were all out of the lineup, while Ely Allen, Landon Donovan, Troy Roberts and Greg Vanney were brought in.
· With his goal tonight, Edson Buddle is now tied with Landon Donovan for a league best 11 goals. Buddle has also tied his career-high of 11 goals in a season. He last scored 11 goals in one season in 2004 as a member of the Columbus Crew.
· David Beckham’s assist, which now gives him seven for the season, puts him in a three-way tie with teammate Landon Donovan and Real Salt Lake’s Javier Morales for second place in the league.
· Abel Xavier and Sean Franklin each missed the game through injury. Franklin was ruled out for 2-3 weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his right knee while Xavier missed the match with inflammation in his left knee.
· Peter Vagenas returned to the lineup for the first time in a month, starting in central midfield. He had missed the last four games with a right quad injury.

· The attendance for tonight’s game was 27,000, which is the sixth sellout for the Galaxy this season and the third straight.

Summary: 1st Half = LA Galaxy did well in maintaining fair amount of posession, but really lacked in offensive manuevers and pace and hunger... while in 1st Half = Chivas USA through Razov, Mendoza, and Harris kept threatening, kept attacking, and kept creating... Hence, the score line of 1 - 0 in favor of Chivas USA after 1st Half.
Really sad to see and find out Ante Jazic had to be gourneyed off due to injury. He seemed very immbile and scared on the grass after that really awkward twist fighting for the ball against Atiba Harris. He put in a valiant effort as left-back tonight. A lot of the LA Galaxy fans got up off their seats and clapped for him as he was wheeled off. I truly hope it's only a sprain or pull... Please let it NOT be a tear of muscle or tendon!
I know Petey gave the slot and assist to Edson to score in the second half - but, man... his game is SO MUCH SLOWER than everybody elses... it became so annoying to witness. Yes, I know for a LONG TIME he's played as a holding midfielder... but, sheesh - SO MUCH the dude keeps passing laterally... and, the man only knows how to play one specific play at a time. That's why I was hoping / praying that Head Coach Ruud put Alvaro in during the second half... With Alvaro, you're always guaranteed he'll keep fighting and running after each and every ball!!!
I am so, so glad that our LA Galaxy team showed some excellent FIGHT, TENACITY, and HUNGER for the ball in the second half. Because, it was so needed against a Chivas team that was dead set on whooping our heines!
Please LA Galaxy management... Please can we please get some midfielders and forwards who are NOT afraid to fight, to challenge, to go one-on-one!!! We need some players with some expertise, critical awareness, and bundles and bundles of fight, dribbling, forward movement.
Once again, Carlos really tried to contribute... but, he was marked by the TALLER, SPEEDIER Chivas team. In fact, Chivas did an excellent job tonight in marking, following, hovering!!!
Now this team has to get ready for FOUR (4) consecutive road games!!! This is going to make our team, tired, lethargic, and off-base I fear!!! Our young players must really learn how to keep FULL CONCENTRATION, FOCUS, INTENSITY, and DRIVE the full 90 minutes. Always depending on David and Landon is NOT the answer... Both of these guys were very well marked by Chivas tonight. Wake up, LA Galaxy management... we need QUALITY, PACE, EXPERTISE, TENACITY, adn DRIBBLING SKILLS!!!

i like how gullit changed his formation and put beckham in center. but instead of randolph at left midfield allen should be there and move klein to right midfield. hopefully when dominguez plays klein moves to right midfield. everyone played well especially beckham. i liked seeing vagenas and beckham controlling midfield. overall galaxy deserved to win. but randolph was horrible.

Some thoughts:
1) MLS is vastly improved in past 15 months. I will even go out on a limb and say the brand of soccer is more interesting and compelling than the all-forces-forward-all-the-time style of the Premiership.
2) Beckham is of course huge. However, as much as his well thought out long balls are mostly impressive, it would be nice to see him dribble a bit more.
3)Is is possible that Beckham has become a bit too heavy and strong up top?
4)I would like to see Landon on the flank once in awhile.
5) Big need for a Guttuso type.
6) The games should start at 10pm so as to encourage folks to leave the tots at home.
7)Finally, here's hoping Ruud has more up his sleave.
Thanks.
