Preseason Work Continues

Training has continued this week at The Home Depot Center as the Galaxy are now just six weeks away from the season opener against New England.

With the exception of Alecko and Clint, the full squad has been on the field all week long with a spring in their steps, maybe from the fact that Bruce and the coaching staff cut this week's training back to just one session a day as opposed to the two-a-days that the they had during the first two weeks of camp.

At the end of the session, even the goalkeepers had to do fitness work, with Ian Feuer putting his group through a short obstacle course that stressed footwork and agility.

As always, thanks for keeping us informed on the players' training and more.

QUESTION: Can LAG Staff please let us know if the scrimmage session to be held this Friday, Feb 12th against UCLA will be open to the public? If so, which field and when???

" CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy have begun their third week of training camp at The Home Depot Center. After two weeks of two-a-day training sessions, Bruce Arena's team will train every morning this week ahead of Friday's first scrimmage of the preseason against UCLA. This will be the Galaxy's first game action of the year as they continue to prepare for the 2010 MLS season opener against the New England Revolution on Saturday, March 27 at The Home Depot Center."

It would appear that Aleko is not a fit player. That said, it would be imprudent to pin one's hopes on such a forward. Why does the HC/GM not attempt to acquire an experienced forward? The Magee-Buddle combination is unimpressive.

Anon..You are right.

There is still not enough firepower. Dependable strikers are needed. Kirovski and Gordon need to be upgraded.

What exactly is the update on Alecko? What's his injury, and how long is he expected to be out?

He could be done for good.

The roster is long on defenders and short on strikers. Will someone prod the HC/GM into acquiring an experienced striker!!!
