Midfielder Clint Mathis will miss the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Mathis, who was re-acquired by the Galaxy last month, suffered the injury in training last week and underwent successful surgery on Friday at the Surgery Center of the Pacific in Santa Monica.
Mathis has already begun his rehabilitation and could return to full training before the end of the preseason. He is expected to be ready for the club’s season opener against the New England Revolution on Saturday, March 27.

Not worried at all, had the same thing done and was playing in 4 weeks at top condition..Rehab away, Clint.
Hope all goes well over the next weeks
GO LA !!!!
Wish Clint a proper and thorough recovery. Come back in true and full force for the G's, Clint. Hope that the training session this week is focusing more on stronger ball movement, ball-passing exercises, timing / release... etc. Hope all of the players are constantly being pushed and monitored for improving fitness.
Any updates on Alecko's status? Is he ready to come back into training and play again?
I know Alecko is at training camp just not sure if he's seeing the field. Mathis should be available as a late sub if necessary--but I don't see him starting against the Revs on Mar 27th.
Is that the best picture you could find of Clint? Poor guy looks challenged.
Thanks, Brian for providing more updates. Appreciate it. I don't know whether Bruce wants Clint to be a starter or not - I do not doubt his abilities and the threat he brings in the 18-yard box (based on what I saw from him with RSL)... however, it would be very re-assuring to me (in my mind, at least) if Alecko was also ready and able to start a game and play for 60 minutes. I'm really sorry to say this - but, Edson, Jovan, and Alan - I have seen WAY TOO MANY "wides" and "overs" from these players. So, I am really not confident at all with their finishing under pressure.
Nice to see Clint rocking the old Adidas Copa Mundials. Still the most reliable boots around.
