Galaxy Defeat UCLA 4-0 in First Scrimmage of 2010

The Galaxy defeated UCLA 4-0 this afternoon at The Home Depot Center in their first scrimmage of the 2010 preseason. Gregg Berhalter gave the Galaxy a 1-0 halftime lead thanks to an early penalty kick after Edson Buddle was brought down in the box.

Halftime saw wholesale changes for LA and three more goals to seal the win. Eddie Lewis gave the Galaxy a 2-0 lead when his cross was deflected in for an own goal. Rookie midfielder Michael Stephens clinched the win with a pair of late goals against his former team.

Everyone on the team played at least 45 minutes, with Leonardo playing just more than an hour before being replaced in the middle by Sean Franklin, who played the first 45 minutes at right back, for the final 27 minutes.

Here are the lineups from today's scrimmage.

First half: Ricketts; Alex Cazumba, Berhalter, Leonardo, Franklin; Kovalenko, Birchall, Magee, Bowen; Juninho, Buddle.

Second half: Saunders; Dunivant, Marshall, Leonardo (Franklin 63'), DeLaGarza; Kirovski, Stephens, Lewis, Klein; Gordon, Jordan.

Well then not good enough. They didn't encourage it, so I guess they didn't want us there. Maybe because they lost the game last year.

They tweeted again and again about a game vs. UCLA. No time or location was ever given. Repeated requests of this information were not responded to.

Why tweet about the game in advance if you don't want fans there?
