The team travelled back from Arizona this morning and had the rest of today and Monday off, their final two days off before the season opener on Sunday.
Seven players today did get some good news as their alma maters earned spots in the NCAA Tournament.
The Galaxy's two UCLA Bruins (Leonard Griffin and Eddie Lewis) were celebrating their team's #6 seed in the East Region which means a First Round matchup with Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday.
Additionally, Wake Forest graduate Julian Valentin will be cheering on the Demon Deacons, the #4 seed in the Midwest, in their First Round game against Cleveland State on Friday.
But the real drama will come in the West Region where Josh Saunders' Cal Bears (the #7 seed) host the A.J. DeLaGarza and Omar Gonzalez's Maryland Terrapins (the #10 seed) on Thursday in the first round.
Whoever wins that game could potentially take on Sean Franklin's Cal-State Northridge Matadors (the #15 seed) two days later, but only if the Matadors can upset Memphis in the opening round.

Seriously? How about an update on Ricketts while you update us on the NCAA tourney? Maybe let us know the plans for a stronger defense so we don't get wasted out there while everyone is watching their alma mater play basketball?
I agree. There's like 10 guys injured on this roster and we get informed on basketball, who cares! Soccer is what we love, not basketball. Come on Galaxy blog, you're better than that.
How about some injury updates?? Ricketts, Magee, Gordon, Buddle, Lewis, Miglioranzi, and whoever else...Does this team stretch or what??
Very relevant!
Can we get some injury updates!! We're only few days from first kick and you're updating us on NCAA?? Give us fans real news!
You guys complaining about not getting injury updates are lame. Do you think the guys that run the blog are the same guys that diagnose injuries or even work in the training room? The blog crew get the information as soon as everyone else does: when the Bruce decides he wants to let everyone know what's up. Besides, the bog has gotten a lot better lately so take it easy, spread your legs, bend over, grab hold of that tree branch, and pull firmly to remove it from your ass.
I don't mind the NCAA update, it's nice to associate our players with the schools they went to. Little did we know that we have guys representing all those conferences. This month obviously is dominated by NCAA, but Sunday is most important day to us! Keep it up Galaxy blog and thanks for the Chicago highlights.
