Hitting the Road in Style

Unlike most teams, when the Galaxy travel we do not wear team gear, but rather nice, comfortable, casual clothes, ie not hoodies, shorts or sweatpants, but rather a nice pair of jeans with a polo or sweater and a pair of comfortable shoes.

But that doesn't mean that 2008 Equipment Manager of the Year Raul Vargas and his staff don't keep the guys covered in more than their fair share of new Galaxy emblazoned gear.

Before leaving the stadium on Thursday, all of the players and staff that travel (including the bloggers!) were given their new travel bags, which were chock full of new gear.

What was in the bags? Take a look...
Everyone was actually given three bags, a backpack, a duffel bag and a larger suitcase on wheels, all with the adidas logo and the player's uniform number or the staff member's initials.

Inside the bags were two t-shirts, a grey adidas climalite one and a heavier white one, complete with the Herbalife sponsorship.

There were also two polos, a white one and a blue one, which players will likely wear to the stadium on game day and to all appearances.

As well as a tracksuit made up of...

This jacket...
and these pants.
And finally, our favorite, a navy blue hoodie, complete with a light "LA" logo on the back.

Lastly, here is one last look at everything. What do you think?

Anything standout as your favorite? If all of this is available at the Team LA store, what are you going to be looking to add to your wardrobe?

I would like to see the Galaxy offer a polo short that is simply dark blue with the Galaxy logo on the left side of the chest. No herbalife, no stripes, and for god's sake no Beckham or 23 on it. Just a nice simple polo with the logo would be perfect.

The stripes on the polo are good for all of you that work in sports... but for those of us that work in an office, the stripes don't exactly scream business casual.

In the bottom left corner of the last shot is a sweet looking blue track top. I'd buy that in a heart beat!

The LA hoodie looks N-I-C-E. So when will Adidas be mass producing this for the general public?

That's more like it. Better if the players modeled it though. You seriously should consider an online cataloge with players showing the new merchandize to be sold like most big teams do. C'mon it's not that difficult nor unique. Get with it already.

For me, I'll buy everything that doesn't say Beckham or Herbalife. I hope the collar on the polo is fixed so it won't curl up like last year's.

BTW - big thank you to those who were involved in the design of this years season ticket package. I just got mine and it's great. Love the fact that it include some of the past greats, fans and above all: NO BECKS!

Long live the Galaxy and MLS. This is going the best and most competetive MLS season yet. Bring on Portland and Vancouver next and I'll never leave the west coast again!
