Departing for Tempe

Starbucks? Check. Laptop? check. We're here at LAX on our way to Arizona for Saturday's preseason finale against the Chicago Fire. We have some time before boarding and figured why not jump on the blog. Remember, there is no TV broadcast for this game, but you can follow the action live on the new and improved LAGalaxy.com for free.

There are a lot of new faces on this trip, like World Cup veteran Tony Sanneh and rookies Kyle Patterson, A.J. DeLaGarza and Yohance Marshall all making their Galaxy traveling debut.

Despite the new faces, playing cards and checking email still remain the guys' favorite activities to pass the time prior to boarding. At least that's how Jules, Omar, Magee, BJ and Yohance are killing time. As is Josh, who's on his laptop (pictured above).

A lot of the guys are sporting their new travel gear, which was given to them on Wednesday, but A.J. is sporting something else-- 12 stitches! Which he needed after suffering a deep cut in an aerial collision with Julian Valentin during training on Monday.

We'll have more from Arizona later today, including notes from the press conference and an inside look into the guys' travel gear.

TRAVEL ROSTER
Goalkeepers: Donovan Ricketts and Josh Saunders
Defenders: A.J. DeLaGarza, Sean Franklin, Omar Gonzalez, Yohance Marshall, Tony Sanneh and Julian Valentin.
Midfielders: Chris Klein, Dema Kovalenko, Kyle Patterson and Josh Tudela.
Forwards: Tristan Bowen, Landon Donovan, Alan Gordon, Bryan Jordan, Jovan Kirovski and Mike Magee.

That means that Edson Buddle, Todd Dunivant, Leonard Griffin, Eddie Lewis, Stefani Miglioranzi and Israel Sesay remain behind in Los Angeles. [UPDATED: Dan Gargan was a late scratch from the travel party after picking up a knock in training yesterday, leaving the group at 18.]

1-Take a lot more pictures, you need the practice.

2-what travel gear, no one pictured is wearing them. Should it not be mandatory?

good to see Julian put the hurt on somebody else for a change. That means he wants to get some playing time. AJ should use the head protection before he gets much uglier!

Great updates, guys. Thanks. Appreciate them. Thanks for the pics also. More so, thanks a LOT for providing us the travel roster. That really helps. I hope our guys show and play very well at the Phoenix Classico. Remember, the temps are different there, the air density is different, as well as the dryness. Be prepared!!! I hope they get to seriously stretch and warm up. Play Hard & play to win!

Why does Izzy always stay in LA when we travel?
