Five Days From Kickoff

With the regular season just a few days away now, the intensity levels in training have noticeably ratcheted themselves up a few notches. In that vein, we wanted to slide some information your way...

Josh Wicks and Bryan Jordan each finished their contracts today and have now been added to the Galaxy roster. Also finishing up their deals were Michael Gavin and Brandon McDonald. Gavin and Wicks will be included on the 18 man senior roster while Jordan and McDonald will be on the Developmental Roster.

Legendary Belgian National Team goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff was in attendance at training today. A well-known celebrity back in Europe both from his playing days and from the reality show that chronicles the life of his family "De Pfaffs", Jean-Marie is starting a magazine and today interviewed Ruud for a feature. We'll have more once the magazine hits newsstands.

Jean-Marie spoke to Ian Feuer, who he remembered from his playing days at Club Brugge in Belgium and all of the Galaxy's goalkeepers prior to their session today. In addition to remembering Feuer, Pfaff remembered running a goalkeeping clinic a few years ago in Sacramento, a clinic that was attended by a young Steve Cronin.

The guys had a pair of sessions today with the morning work being done outside at the Athletes Performance tent as the guys did weights and a series of other strengthening exercises. In the afternoon everyone was back on the field for one of the final training sessions before Saturday’s season opener.

After missing Saturday’s scrimmage against San Fernando Valley (be sure to check out the highlights) and training on Monday with a right quad injury, Peter Vagenas was back in training on Tuesday and should be ready to go on Saturday. For a full injury report, check out the Weekly Update.

Lastly, you can catch all the latest Galaxy news and features every week on Galaxy Deportivo. Back for another season, Alejandro Navarro and Elmer Polanco bring you everything you could want to know about your favorite MLS team, including exclusive video, interviews and insights. You can watch Galaxy Deportivo every Saturday on KWHY-22 starting at 6 p.m. and every Sunday on Telemundo-52 at 11 a.m.

Thanks... Thanks so much for giving us updated info about our LA Galaxy. It's so much appreciated! Michael, Brandon, Josh, Bryan... CONGRATS! SO GLAD to have all of you on our team. GO GALAXY!!! I know Coach Ruud expects so much out of each of you... Please understand - that it is very much necessary! The more fit each of you are - the more you guys will be able to handle the 90 minutes of MLS games and the travelling that goes with it! You guys are improving... Improving each time you guys practice and scrimmage... Keep it up! We have to turn our LA Galaxy's past performances and standings around! Maintain concentration, focus, and intensity!!!

Thanks again for the updates and info. Please keep it coming!

Would love to see a Galaxy Deportivo style show in English. Even if it was a webcast on the Galaxy site.
