Saunders, Galaxy Ready To Go at Crew Stadium

Goalkeeper Josh Saunders, pictured, who was acquired on loan from Miami FC on Sept. 12, will make his MLS debut tonight when the Galaxy take on Columbus at sold out Crew Stadium.

Saunders, 27, was with the Galaxy in 2005 and Earthquakes in 2003, but did not play in an official league game. To learn more about Josh click here.

Inserting Saunders into the starting XI wasn't the only change head coach Bruce Arena made to the lineup. Joe Franchino, who is making his first start since July 4, and Peter Vagenas are also back in the starting XI.

Here's who the Galaxy will go with against the Crew.

--------------Buddle------Donovan-------------

Lewis---------------Vagenas----------Beckham

---------------------Franchino-------------------

Vanney---------Franklin-----Roberts--------Klein

----------------------Saunders--------------------

Subs: Wicks, Jazic, Valentin, Randolph, McDonald, Jordan and Gordon

It seems that LA Galaxy did the best they could to thwart as many plays forward coming from Columbus; but, clearly Columbus has both height and speed advantage down the flanks. Josh Saunders is looking very solid and comfortable in the first half. The goal from Columbus in the late moments of the 1st half is due to the experience and strength of Ale Moreno. But, I really thought Donovan just had that equalizer after that - almost!

LA Galaxy still has the next 45 minutes to counter back hard! LA Galaxy needs a lot more speed up top to run off Donovan or Buddle. Edson is just battling to end against the back-line of Columbus. Donovan, Lewis, Beckham, and Vagenas really have to play extremely hard and force Columbus to make errors or rash decisions.

Joey's fight is well worth commending; but, his touches are still quite a bit away from being sharp and accurate. Then again, I think Joey was placed in there to frustrate build-up out of the middle for Columbus. At this point, all LA Galaxy can do is have the experience star players wear out Columbus's flank players (Rogers & Gaven) plus their forwards (Moreno & Schelotto).

The slowest starting 11 in MLS history...ridiculous Arena.

Alert Arena...Vanney cannot play anymore! McDonald and Jordan should have been starters!
