Becks Suspension Clarified

As all of you know, David Beckham was booked in the first half of the 1-0 loss in Columbus on Saturday night. That was his fifth booking of the year, leading to a mandatory one game suspension from MLS.

Then, on Sunday it was announced that David was called in to the England squad for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus.

As a result, David will miss the home game against Colorado on the 12th as a result of National Team duty before serving his suspension for the trip to Houston on the 18th. He is eligible to be back in the lineup in the regular season finale against FC Dallas on the 26th.

What an assine position by MLS. Why can't he serve his suspension vs. Colorado? What does it change for MLS as long as he is not in the lineup that game. So, penalize the teams twice, once by having a bloody game during WC qualifiers and then by having him sit out on the road in houston.
I am sure Houstons fans will be thrilled by that, unless i'm wrong it would have been his first MLS game at Robertson.

The above commenter is right. I don't think this is fair.

Obviously, I agree with 1st commentor above. If David already is going to not be in the line-up against Colorado, is there some special, notable "slap-on-the-wrist" with him actually being present in the US that's gonna make the One game suspension count more? Ever since, David was brought into the LA Galaxy, the honchos at MLS have done nothing but humiliate and persecute this team where it matters the most - trying to construct and shape this team to get consistent, decent results on the pitch. Absolute total monarchs and scoundrels running the league.

So, just wondering... Have the team showed up and actually practiced and warmed up today? Or is that not a concern any longer for this organization?

Didn't Kljestan of Chivas USA do the same earlier in the year? He received a suspension and played with the USMNT during that weekend, thereby making up for his suspension?

Are you sure this is legitimate information?

Its becoming a total joke. This league is a mess. Well at least he should play in the final game. Hope he isn't so isillusioned thathe doesn' come back next year.

Like i said in my first comment, MLS' position is wrong and unfair. Beckahm is NOT unavailable for selection on SUNDAY because ENGLAND plays on SATURDAY. Theoretically he could play vs. Colorado. Am I wrong to think that Donovan might try to be available for a half on sunday? I clearly remember D-Ro and Ondstad playing for Houston after Canada's game the day before vs St Vincent and the Grenadines...

That is a good comment but Becks is officially with the England squad through the middle of the week as there are 2 games. I suppose he could declare himself available for the Sunday game in LA the MLS suspends him so he can't play and then he would be available for the following weekend. The MLS need to seriously rethink this whole league set up . Maybe they should just scrap it and start again with each club being a separate entity like the Women are going to be doing next year. Right now it seems like the model was AYSO. AYSO is even very bad for kids. I will volunteer to be team Mom (actually Mum) as long as Becks is here.

He is worth every penny and double it. On the other hand Donovan well how does he sleep at night?

The fact that the f'ing MLS doesn't schedule around WC Qualifiers is reason enough to label this wannabe "league" an amateur operation.

I've had Season Tix to the Galaxy for many, many years, but I am getting so fed up with the BS of the League as a whole and especially the Galaxy management that I'm not renewing this year.

That said, I bet the Gs win on Sunday without His Magesty. What's he really done for us this year anyway? Have we scored any corners?

this is so depressing. By the way is there another Galaxy blog that gets more participation? Or an MLS blog, official or unofficial? It's said that such a hot topic only gets the few of us talking. JB
