Galaxy Win Third Place Match 2-1 (UPDATED)

Ely Allen and Josh Tudela scored and the goalkeeping duo of Steve Cronin and Josh Wicks combined to make a string of saves to give the Galaxy a 2-1 win in the Pan-Pacific Championship Third Place Match on Saturday night.

On Wednesday night the Galaxy fell behind in the 3rd minute, tonight, they're up 1-0 as a long ball from Beckham found Ely Allen alone at the back post for a first time finish, putting LA in front.

The score stayed 1-0 until the 42nd minute when Sydney equalized with a long range strike from Brendan Renaud.

But the score was 1-1 for just a short time before Josh Tudela put LA back in front. Becks sent a low cross across the face of goal which the Sydney goalkeeper got to just before Bryan Jordan, but he fumbled the ball and the rebound fell straight to Tudela who slotted the ball into the empty night, giving the Galaxy a 2-1 halftime advantage.

What have I been saying about soccer and its seriousness every place else (practically) in the world... that it's a passionate, competitive, and aggressive sport. Coach Ruud knows this - he knows this all too well... DO you see how many players get brutalized and pushed, shoved, knee'd, elbow'd during EPL matches. It's togh. This is why he is so hell-bent on fitness, health, practice, and drills... From what I'm reading elsewhere on how this 3rd place match is going... Sydney FC is not going down without a BRUTAL fight. Our LA Galaxy youngsters better get used to how competitve the MLS games are going to be. Welcome to the Big Leagues, men!

Hey.....we won...and hopefully the lads will build on this and start to "gel" as a team ( not a 10 + 1 ala Arsenal during Thierry Henrys' rein !!!)....the plan ----build fitness, confidence and MOMENTUM to mount a challenge for the WEST in 2008!!!....what's the old saying..."one small step ...."

I just heard how bad Charles Alamo's (our reserve goal keeper)knee injury was... it's a torn ACL. Boy-oh-boy... So much for hoping it wan't a small injury. I guess we're probably going to give a call back to Vito Higgins? Looks like Edson Buddle went down awkwardly after a "push-from-the-back" challenge from Sydney FC. I saw from the ESPN Classic televised match that he had to be brought back to the bench and have his right shoulder and collar bone secured and wrapped. I hope he recovers well before March 29th. Once again, the LA Galaxy youngsters put up a STRONG, COMMENDABLE, & HOPEFUL performance during this third place match against Sydney FC. And, these performances were on field turf. David Beckham soldiered on and gave it the full 90 minutes again! Good show, sir! Good show!!! Just keep in mind - our LA Galaxy still needs to retain its physical fitness, strength, and conditioning into full 2008 MLS Season, as well. This is valuable competitive game time for the LA Galaxy youngsters. Recoup, Re-energize, focus on maintaining more posession on the ball, to play on the team's pace & terms (NOT the opponents'), and improve "Shot-On-Goal" accuracy!

I'm so bummed to hear about Alamo, was hoping good things for him, I have seen him play for couple of years playing in the Big West and he is really secure between the pipes. But I was really impressed by Wicks his reflexes remind me of Hartman. Hopefully Ruud gives him more time.

As for Buddle, I am no doctor, but it seems like he hurt his collar bone pretty bandly on TV, hopefully it is not broken because it takes time to heel...

nevertheless speedy recovery to both players.

Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.
