Alan Gordon Traded to Chivas USA

The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has traded forward Alan Gordon to Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money.

Gordon entered the season as the Galaxy’s longest-tenured player, having made his debut for the club in 2004. In seven years with the club, Gordon had 16 goals and 12 assists in 99 regular season games, while also appearing in nine postseason games, including MLS Cup 2005 in Frisco, Texas, when the Galaxy won their second league championship. This season, Gordon had one goal in 12 regular season games, while also appearing in both of the club’s U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League matches.

The 28-year-old graduate was selected by the Galaxy in the sixth round of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft out of Oregon State University. He made his debut for the club in a 0-0 draw with San Jose on September 25 of that year. Gordon had his best season with the club in 2008 when he set career-highs with five goals and seven assists in 26 games with the Galaxy.

He may not have been a headliner, but it is hard to find someone who plays for the team more than Alan Gordon. I will miss him, and to twist the knife he is sent to Chivas? Come on now...

YES! YES! YES! Finally! Finally, someone within the organization who's got the GUTS to get Alan packing and out. Been waiting so....no, too darn long for this moment. Okay, now our LA Galaxy is going to make a play for some quality striker... Hopefully, PLEEEEAAAASSSEEE! Preferably, NOT over 33 years of age, and can run at players while keeping posession of the ball making it towards net.

I give it to him he played his heart out for the galaxy, but he just does not have the skill and touch to play in this league. I really wish him the best, he always gave his all for the team.

From a soccer perspective, I agree with this move. From a personal perspective, it's always difficult to say goodbye to our longest-tenured player. All in all, Alan played with heart and every Galaxy fan should appreciate that. Thank you, Alan.

The man is probably very nice, but he can't finish. I would cringe when he comes on the field. Let Chivas have him.
