The guys are ready for this weekend's trip to Oakland, the first away game of the season at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Some of the guys that are coming back from injuries, surgeries and suspensions moved that much closer to being match fit on Thursday. Red cards to Alan and Gregg provides opens the door for other to see some action. Bruce and the coaching staff see the suspensions an opportunity to build depth within the team.
We caught up with Bruce and Stefani ahead of Saturday's game against the Earthquakes. Stefani breaks down San Jose a little bit for us while Bruce says playing at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum might be a good thing for the Galaxy.
Bruce...
Stefani...
Also, after a solid training session, Landon and Klein led a group of players that stayed on the field to work on finishing. Jovan was on fire, putting away almost every opportunity, as was Landon and Bryan. Edson, who's rehabbing hard so he can rejoin the guys on the field, was among those taking part in the drill, which would start at the top of the box, go wide to Klein and then back into the box. Occasionally, the ball would be send in from the middle of the field and the player would get two touches to put it away.

is Kevin Guppy still training with the team?
Guys,
Thanks so much for the training updates... These pics were cool. Any video of the training sessions - especially the guys scrimmaging? I am so, so happy to hear that the guys are working much more on shots-on-goal and finishing. I hope our players are getting more confident with each other, their timing, their coordination, and their fitness levels. I hope Edson will be able to play & contribute... but, it's critical that he heals completely and properly. Again, I'll say this - Absolutely thankful that Landon and Eddie are on our team an helping us get better and stronger. To me, these two individuals are the correct choice for captain and vice-captain. I'm really hoping Tony, Omar, Yohance, Julian, AJ, and Sean are doing everything they can to get proper stretching, treatment, and flexion/extension routines to help them stay fit for the road-trip. We'll absolutely need their coordination and full alertness and physicality for all of the games. I hope our guys - our team does well!
hope we finally get to see Dunnivant, so Lewis plays Left Midfielder...
Hope Buddle is back ASAP.
Thanks for the updates.
Any chance of a regular column from one of the players/staff or a 20 questions/20 answers interview (instead a chat)
I agree with you Charles,I actually enjoy reading what you have to say, Nice Job.I think this game will help us out alot, being away and all.Maybe the change is what we need to start clicking as 1Unit.Once we start being able to finish the simple balls,we will be on a roll & OK.I give praise to the Back-Line,in time,I see them as being the focus of this team. Tony has all the experience in leading Rookies,Omar,A.J,& 2nd year player Franklin thru the learning process. Remember,Omar & A.J are only playing there 3rd mls game,I think those 2 have held there own.Franklin looks real good at the Mid-Right Position, thats a new position for him, more like on the job training, but he's holding his own also.I think we benefit more with Eddie at Mid-Field Running the show,he's a warrior,he will play wherever he can help the most.Good Luck GALAXY,rum them hard Landon, and lets get our 1st win .
Sorry Anonymous I have to do it.... It is just too funny to pass up.
Perhaps instead of having the coaches 'rum them hard' we should have them run them hard.
The rum may have a negative impact on the game.
Then after we crush the smurfs, they can have all the rum they would like.
Can we cut Stephanie already, the guy is complete garbage and this years Pete V.. nothing but taking up space and passing the ball back to the defense.
MattJack...if your going to act like you know this game and whats best for the team, maybe you should actually learn the players names (Stefani) and perhaps go to the fantasy camp where you learn why the back pass is so damn important to the game...and finally....way to be postive, you whiner.........
