Alamo in the Papers

If anyone has a chance to pick up a copy of today's Riverside Press-Enterprise we strongly suggest that they do so that they can read all about Galaxy goalkeeper Charles Alamo. As most of you already know, Alamo has had to undergo not one but two surgeries to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. He first suffered the injury in a preseason friendly against Houston in Hawaii in February, a game that the Galaxy won 4-0. After rehabbing and getting back into the team, Alamo tore his ACL again, this time in a Reserve Division game against San Jose on August 3.

Jim Alexander from the Press-Enterprise caught up with Alamo to talk about his road to recovery, his desire to get back onto the field and the mental fortitude that is required to go through this process all over again.

If you can't find a copy of the paper, be sure to read the story here and share your thoughts on it at the bottom of the page or by commenting on this post.

I wanted to know, how come Landon doesn't got to Europe. Let Beckham sale t-shirts and loose games, but what you are doing to Landon Donovan is not right. Let Donovan play with a better team in Europe and think about world cup 2010. Renken is bypassing MLS for Europe Donovan deserves a better treatment because he is the face to US Soccer and he is the beast player thus far in the history of US Soccer. Treat him right, have some ETHICS..........

Donovan went to Europe and couldn't make it, That's how he got to the Galaxy. He is so one dimentional amd does not read the game. He is fast and that is about it. Yes he scores but with the number of great balls sent his way law of averages he better.

Well it is said that for every player there is a team, I would say that perhaps Landon's career has not been managed the way it supposed to. It just seems so wrong that while Landon was trying to save a team, Albright and Beckham were eating cotton candy and laughing. Beckham now is less of a player than Landon, he is just more popular and remember when you play with Zidane, Ronaldo they can make you look good enough even if you're not. Beckham has not made a difference for the galaxy. Look at Blanco, Gallardo, Schelloto and others, and yet noone seems to care that Beckham just stands to the left or right side of the field waiting for someone to pass him the ball. The Galaxy team needs to be renewed starting with 85% of the team, how can they sleep at night knowing that the league is trying to pass them out as soccer stars, I have watch futbol for 33 years and what the Galaxy is doing on the field is not futbol it truly is soccer.

Couldn't agree more the Galaxy do not play football. If you have truly been watching football for 33 years thrn all I can say it is sad that you cannot recognize Beckham's talents. Ther is more to football thn running up and down a field like crazy. The positioning and reading the game is what makes it a great game and not understood by most Americans. Yes Beckham played with great players at Man U and Real but look what happened to those great players at Real when he was out of the team. They brought him back they won La Liga nad did all they could to prevent him from leaving. To be a true football fan you have to recognize all aspects of the game. As for Donovan his career was not mismanaged he just doesn't have the talent to make it outside of the US. He truly plays soccer not football.

What is that supposed to mean?

Now everyone applauds the Galaxy, remember there are more games to be won and they will not be easy. The win over DC was great but one can not forget that Buddle had a great opportunity and he missed. What would have happened if winning the game depended on Buddle's missed opportunity? Buddle has missed more than he has scored, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Congratulations to Donovan, did Beckham Played?
