Travel Roster for New Zealand Friendly Finalized

Bruce Arena today unveiled the 19-man roster that will travel to New Zealand ahead of the friendly against the Oceania All-Stars on December 6. That game, which will be played at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel, starting at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, December 5. Fox Sports en Español will air the match on a half-hour delay at 11 p.m. (PT).

Nineteen players, including one guest player, will depart for Auckland on Monday, December 1 before returning to the United States on Sunday, December 7. The squad will hold three training sessions in Auckland ahead of the game against the Oceania All-Stars, who are led by 1998 FIFA World Cup winner Christian Karembeu, a native of New Caledonia.

The Galaxy’s complete travel squad for this match is…

Goalkeepers (2): Josh Saunders and Josh Wicks.
Defenders (7): Sean Franklin, Michael Gavin, Leonard Griffin*, Chris Klein, Mike Randolph, Troy Roberts and Julian Valentin
Midfielders (6): Ely Allen, David Beckham, Eddie Lewis, Brandon McDonald, Mike Muñoz and Josh Tudela.
Forward (4): Tristan Bowen, Alan Gordon, Bryan Jordan and Jovan Kirovski.

* – Guest Player

Goalkeeper Steve Cronin will remain in Los Angeles to undergo surgery to remove a plate that was inserted to his right hand in a surgical procedure earlier this year. Cronin originally injured his hand in a game against the New England Revolution on August 30.

In addition to Cronin, Charles Alamo, Edson Buddle, Landon Donovan and Ante Jazic will remain in the area to rest and receive treatment.

Jeremy Barlow, Joe Franchino and Alvaro Pires have been waived and will be available in this afternoon’s MLS Waiver Draft, while Vardan Adzemian, Eduardo Dominguez and Israel Sesay will not travel for the game.

Could you clarify Izzy's situation regarding international travel for us sometime? I'm just curious, he's never been on any of these trips abroad. Is there a certain reason for this? Something to do with his citizenship? Surely it's not coincidence. Could you please explain, this would be much appreciated and exactly the type of the blog should do. Thanks!

Good. The configuration and shaping of the team has already started. Again - Bruce, Dave, Cobi, and Paul - NO FAVORITES! Everything from now on is based on will, determination, performance, and guts. The guys from here on out have to know that is the unmoveable / unshakeable bottom line.
I wish Joey, Alvaro, and Jeremy luck, success, and hopefully playing time where-ever they go to from here.
There is no room for softness and may-be(s). The guys going forward must know exactly what's expected and the consequences for not meeting them.
Here's to hoping for a much more stronger and better 2009.

I just can pray for a WIN..or at least a draw. It is important for them to get nothing less than that to boast their motivation for the next season. And of course..NO INJURY please!

Amen..!

Izzy does not have a passport as a result of his immigration status from Sierra Leone.

That is why he did not travel to the U-17 World Cup last year, or any of the Galaxy's trips outside of the United States.

I think that this is still being worked on.
