It is a fairly quiet news day here in Carson so we thought that we would pass along a few small items.
First, with David's loan deal to Milan finalized, here is what he had to say about the club that he will be joining for a short time this winter and how it will help him and the Galaxy.
We also caught up with the coaches of the Galaxy Rios U-16 and U-18 teams ahead of their trip to Washington last weekend to talk about the steps that the teams have taken since the start of the year.
The U-16 coach is Steve Myles, who is also currently the Assistant Director of Coaching at The David Beckham Academy and a former coach at Sheffield United, as well as with the San Jose CyberRays of the WUSA. Here is what he had to say about his team.
The U-18 coach is Warren Barton (seen above at a recent game), a former England international who now lives in Southern California and works for Fox Soccer Channel. Barton, who spent most of his career in the Premier League with Wimbledon and Newcastle, was capped three times by England. Here is what he had to say about his team and the progress that they have made since the start of the season.
If you want to catch the Rios in action this weekend, they are playing on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (U-16) and 2:30 p.m. (U-18) against Chivas USA on University Field #1 at The Home Depot Center. This is the first installment of the SuperClasico in Development Academy play, so come on out and help cheer the Galaxy on to victory.
Lastly, we don't typically get political on this site, but make sure that you get out and vote today.

Nice job..thank you for doing that...they boys have been working hard and appreciate the investment the Galaxy has in them.
Way cool! Thanks for keeping us updated on what's going on and happening with the youth academies. They are and will be this club's, this organization's, this town's perception of soccer (of its importance and rise) forward. I wish the U-16 & U-18 squad lots of luck and energy. Having the Galaxy RIOS is so important to all of the kids that get to come to the LA Galaxy games along w/ the AYSO teams. It gives tangibility and legitimacy to the foundation of the LA Galaxy organization. This organization has to put QUALITY, HARD WORK, COMPETITIVENESS, EXCELLENCE, and TRAINING ahead in the front seat all the time. That's the only way to truly cement a long-lasting successful organization.
QUESTION: It was stated that the Galaxy Youth Academy plays against Chivas USA youth academy this weekend. What day exactly - Saturday or Sunday? Is the entrance free? Is inside the HDC (Main field)? Or do they play on the outside-HDC fields? Some more clarification is necessary. Thanks!
Great audio from the coaches. Thanks. These youth at the LA Galaxy are extremely lucky to have the breadth, the experience, the focus that these coaches can provide. Again, cannot stress enough how very important youth development is.
The teams play Saturday, 16's at Noon and the 18's at 2:30p on "University 1" which is the grass field on the east side of HDC...no entry fee. See you there!
Thanks again for the updated info on Galaxy RIOS playing this Saturday. Should be fun to see. Hope our youth do very well.
Both teams had very successful outings yesterday by shutting out Chivas...16's finished 1-0 and 18's won 3-0. Great day for the Rios!
