Rios Sweep SuperClasico

All Galaxy fans know that games against Chivas USA are battles from the start to the finish. No matter where the teams sit in the standings and what players are on the field, it is going to be a 90 minute battle each and every time...

And usually the Galaxy come out on top!

That was the case yesterday as the Galaxy Rios U-16's and the U-18's won their first-ever meetings with Chivas USA.

The U-16's were able to stretch their lead atop the league with a 1-0 win, improving their record to 6-3-0 on the season.

Following that game, the U-18's put together one of their best games of the season en route to a clinical 3-0 win over first place Chivas USA. The U-18's are now 4-5-0 on the season and have won two of their last three.

We'll catch up with the coaches and a few of the players when they return to trainig this week.

I was fortunate enough to know about these games ahead of time so that I could re-arrange a few things and make time for the LA Galaxy RIOS this Saturday. Thanks to my ticket rep & his persistence in finding out the updated schedule and letting me know. The Galaxy RIOS U-16 and U-18 squads played very hard. And, it showed out on the field. Yes, both the squads missed out on last-minute finishing and connections to score at the Chivas end... but, they fought very hard. And, I can see what the coaches were emphasizing... SMARTNESS, SHARPNESS, FIGHT, but, most of all, team-work. It makes me very proud that this organization is finally starting to put emphases and opportunities to our LA youth. Very good! I hope this continues with energy, support, and training much into this club's and this organization's future. Again, well-done to the coaches, the staff, the parents, and most of all the players. Excellent way to start the SuperClassico series!
