Notes:
• With the win, LA is now 2-0-1 in international friendlies this season, defeating Puntarenas of Costa Rica 1-0 on March 10 and playing to a 0-0 draw with CD Aguila at The Home Depot Center on March 21 in the club’s final preseason game.
• This was the first-ever game between the Galaxy and Boca Juniors.
• This is the first of Boca’s three-game tour of the United States. They will play in Seattle against the Sounders on Wednesday and then complete the week with a game against the Portland Timbers on Saturday.
• Bruce Arena made five changes to the team that played to defeated FC Dallas 1-0 on Thursday night. Josh Saunders, Sean Franklin, Alex Cazumba, Eddie Lewis and Clint Mathis were all brought into the lineup. They replaced Donovan Ricketts, A.J. DeLaGarza, Todd Dunivant, Juninho and Mike Magee
• Tristan Bowen’s goal was his first for the club. The 19-year-old forward made his first league start on Thursday in the win over FC Dallas and assisted on Mike Magee’s game-winning goal.
• Bowen’s goal came in the 83rd minute of the game. LA has now scored twice in three international friendlies this season, with both goals coming in the final 10 minutes of the game.
• Michael Stephens and Mike Magee recorded the assists on the goal. It was the first assist for each player in the club’s three international friendlies this season.
• Josh Saunders recorded 13 saves in the game to keep the clean sheet.
• Clint Mathis made his first start of the year for the Galaxy. He played 80 minutes before being replaced by Mike Magee.
• Eddie Lewis served as the club’s captain, making his first appearance for the club since the season opener against New England when he suffered a right foot contusion. He played 72 minutes on the left side of midfield before being replaced by Todd Dunivant.
• When Lewis left the field, he handed the captain’s armband to Chris Klein, who played the full 90 minutes of the game.
• Yohance Marshall made his first appearance of the year for the club, coming on for Omar Gonzalez at halftime. Marshall, who has spent most of the season on loan with the Austin Aztex of the USSF Division 2 Pro League, joined up with the Galaxy on Thursday in Dallas and was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win at FCD on Thursday night.
• In MLS play, the Galaxy continue to lead the Western Conference with an 8-0-2 record for 26 points, leaving them 10 points clear of second place Houston and San Jose.
• LA is now six points ahead of the Eastern Conference leading Columbus Crew, who defeated Kansas City 1-0 earlier in the day for the best record in MLS. The Crew are 6-0-2 for 20 points this season.
• The attendance for today’s game was 18,267.
• The Galaxy are back in action on Saturday, May 29 when they travel to Columbus to take on the Eastern Conference leading Columbus Crew. That game kicks off at 4:30 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Fox Sports West.
