On the Field Again

On Thursday, the Galaxy opened up training with a full field scrimmage. It was a chance for the players to get in a good run will working on their positioning and tactics on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. A number of players rotated through the lineups for each team as the coaching staff worked the players pretty hard. A number of goals were scored from the run of play as well as from set pieces, including cornerkicks and freekicks. Here are a few photos from the last few days of training.

In addition to the players, there were also a number of special guests in attendance. The ten winners, plus a guest, of Chipotle's Burritos with the Boys competition were invited out to training to watch the team practice up close and have the chance to meet many of the players. Following practice, the ten winners and their guests were also treated to lunch, provided by Chipotle, in one of the suites here at The Home Depot Center with Gregg Berhalter and Eddie Lewis.

I wonder when the STHs can watch a practice. That was cool that the winners got to watch the practice and eat Chipotle.

Guys, great pics. I know there's some good video footage, also, right? Come on - post it up. Those guys & gals are incredibly lucky to get fieldside seating at a training session. Plus, it's a full-sided game. Very glad to see Leo, Bryan, Yohance, Julian, and Kyle involved and taking part in these sessions. I keep hoping that we'll actually get to see our younger players on the field getting considerable minutes during actual MLS games. Although, since now, the left-over games are all critical games where mistakes and give-aways have to be kept to a minimum... I'm not sure if I'll get to see 'em play. The Western Conf teams are so tight/right next to one another (LAG / SEA / CHV / COL).

There were a couple of us STH that won... It was great to be able to watch practice, especially since it was mostly a scrimmage. Arena was busy fixing his formations...but some good ball playing!
It was obvious that no one told the players we were going to be there because they all starred at us as they walked in...including Arena! lol
Thanks to Chipotle and the Galaxy for a great time!

David Beckham wasn't very friendly for being a team Capt. Even a simple wave at us like the rest of the team would had been awesome. He didn't even acknowledge the fact that we were there and that we were excited to see them practice. Either way it was an amazing experience and I cant way to make it out to an actual game. Thank you to Berhalter and Lewis for joining us at the lunch in, good times.
