Full Field Fun

The guys were back in training this morning but as opposed to heading out to their normal practice field, the guys did their work on the stadium field. As a result, Bruce and the rest of the coaches put the team through a number of full field games and exercises that allowed them to use a number of different formations and lineup options.
- A.J. DeLaGarza and Eddie Lewis each returned to the field as they continue to comeback from knee and ankle injuries respectively. Both players are listed as Questionable on the injury report and their availability for Saturday's game will be decided in the coming days.

- While they were on the field, Landon Donovan was given the day off to make his way to New York on behalf of Visa to help promote the launch of Financial Soccer, a new program that is designed to help all of us maintain a better budget. You can learn more about the program and play the game here.

While in New York, Landon did a made a couple of media appearances, first ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange along with Brian McBride (click here for video), chatting with The Dan Patrick Show (click here for audio) and popping up on ESPN's First Take.

- Before he left for New York, Landon and the rest of the players and coaches joined up with a number of the club's sponsors for a night of food, fun and bowling at Lucky Strike in Torrance. Be sure to tune in to this week's episode of This Week Inside the Galaxy to catch all the action.

- The team travels to Columbus tomorrow and will train there on Friday ahead of Saturday's game. But if you want to scout the Crew yourself from the comforts of home, you can watch them host Cruz Azul tonight at 5 p.m. in CONCACAF Champions League group match live on Fox Soccer Channel.

Thanks for all of this! It's always great to see media attention....although, will I ever be glad when they stop bringing up the damn book. It's been talked to death and it's over and done with, media - give it a rest. The guys did a long time ago...jeez!

(by the way - in the sentence "You can learn more about the program and play the game here." there's no link...)

Thanks for the update, of course. I don't know how long the guys were out there in the blazing heat; I know Carson should fare better than North LA / Valley. I was out today playing a noon game (half-field). And, I can tell you, that after 15-18 minutes, I just could not run; pretty much like a cactus tree - useless. I hope it's cooler in Columbus. Do well, men; this past Saturday's game gave us fans a LOT to be thankful for and hopeful about. Wish the best for Eddie's and AJ's healing/recovery.
