Born to Run

Last week, Bruce Springsteen, one of the nation's most legendary songwriters and musicians celebrated his 60th birthday. Now, we know that our President of Business Operations, Tom Payne, is a big fan of the Boss, but it appears that after this morning's training session, that the coaching staff is as well.

Because at the end of today's practice, the players looked like they were born to run, doing a number of sprints of varying lengths to complete their workout.
In addition to the running, the players went through a traditional training session, playing some possession and small-sided games before heading inside for a lengthy meeting and video session.

In a welcome sight, David Beckham and Dema Kovalenko were both out on the field doing some work as they aim to get back to full fitness ahead of Friday night's game against the Fire. Additionally, A.J. DeLaGarza and Eddie Lewis, each of who entered the Columbus game carrying slight injuries, trained at full speed. In fact, Lewis scored the sessions' game-winning goal, beating Josh Saunders in extra time of the small-sided game. Lewis took a left-footed shot that settled in the side-netting to give his team the win, and the requisite high-fives that go along with it.
Lewis, Beckham and the rest of the team will train twice more this week before Friday night's game, a game that will go a long way in deciding the playoff hopes of both sides.

A win this Friday and the Galaxy will pretty much clinch a playoff spot. Man what a turn around. I am excited about this team. Everyone of them truly care these days.
