Welcome Bruce

Bruce Arena addressed the media for the first time today as the Galaxy's Head Coach and General Manager, so we thought that we'd share that with you here.

Here is a video from today's session...

Also, Landon Donovan checked in from Guatemala City and had this to say about his former National Team head coach and now his club side's head coach.

"In my opinion, Bruce is the right choice. This organization has been searching for a vision, and I think Bruce will give us that. People shouldn't expect miracles overnight. While in the short term hiring Bruce is going to benefit us, the long term effects of having him lead the organization will be even greater. I also want to thank Cobi Jones for his professionalism in a difficult time, and for bringing stability to a difficult situation."

"I think Bruce's greatest attributes are that he treats the players respectfully and he knows how to get the most out of them. Bruce gave me my first opportunity with the National Team, and I look forward to many more successful years together."

Here is what Landon said when asked about Bruce on Thursday night after the 2-2 draw with Chivas USA.

We'll check back in tomorrow afternoon with some more player reactions and looking ahead to Thursday night's game with Chicago.

It's very evident from Bruce's approach, style, conversation with reporters why he is America's most successful soccer coach. And, I use the verb "is" instead of "had been". With his intuition, with the support he's getting from Dave, Cobi, Trevor, Ian, Paul (Side Note: Where's Paul? What happened to Paul Bravo? Wait did he get relieved of his duties? Wait, we didn't hear anything about that. Whyt wasn't he on the field also with the team?)
The most important thing right now for this team is NOT to lose unity... NOT to lose vitality... NOT to lose why they are here and have made it this far... The team cannot give up! They must show up for practice each and everyone and give it their utmost best - all the time!!! I appreciate teh candor of Bruce... His ability to talk to everyone at a personal level. I beleive this is why players love to play for him. He lets you know clearly what he wants, how he wants it. These next 10 games are going to be very hard for our team - in the sense that the team has to be consistent... offensively & defensively. They have to play well together - as a strong, solid unit. Thanks for sharing the great audio snippet with us. Appreciate it.

Let me make another note here... I sincerely hope that Cobi Jones gets properly taught and molded here in the LA Galaxy. He should definitely be groomed to being a Head Coach here one day. He embodied the integrity, the spirit, and the aura of the LA Galaxy in its prime. He gave 12 years of his professional soccer life to this organization. And, his loyalty and work-ethic is superb beyond mere words. Thanks for your steadfast guidance, Cobi!!!

I love the galaxy to death and will always be a fan. I hope that Burce doesn't bring down the galaxy like his did the U.S. National Team. It seems the only thing he can do is market (ie. the Red Bulls.) I am willing to give him a chance, but he doesn't have a great track record if you look at it
