Ready for the Fire

The Galaxy had their last practice today before their match tomorrow night against the Chicago Fire, which will be their first test under new Head Coach Bruce Arena. We caught up with some of the players, as well as the new Associate Head Coach Dave Sarachan, who used to coach the Fire, to get their thoughts on tomorrow’s tilt…

First, here is a quick video looking back at the SuperClasico and looking ahead to Thursday night's game.

Peter Vagenas on the team moving on and what they need to do to get back to their winning ways…

Ely Allen on tomorrow’s game...

Alan Gordon on the preparation the squad has done under Bruce…

Dave Sarachan on coaching against his former team…

The Galaxy need to get rid of Carlos Ruiz immediately, anyway they can. Kicking a goalie in the face? Are you serious?

A dirty, garbage player like that deserves to play for someone like Chivas.

Guys - thanks for the training updates with audio and video tidbits. Well, the US Nat'l team made it out of Guatemala with a 1 - 0 score-line. Personally, I thought the US did not play good, cohesive, crisp soccer... then, again playing against many of the Central American Nat'l teams - the opponents most often will not allow the US to play the way US wants to. It was a good battle back & forth, nonetheless. I believe the Guatemalans (esp. Head Coach Maradiaga was fuming hot at the ref.) I kep seeing that Guatemalan players kept burning past the US players on the wings. Was hte pitch extra slick and soggy? Couple of the players kept losing their footing; and most kicked balls from Tim Howard were off and kept going out. Eddie Lewis took a brutal knock to teh head near his right eye - OUCH! He seems okay - thugh his head is definitely going to be ringing. Were many of our US players jet-lagged and tired? The usual pace of our players were not there. We scored the 1 goal off of a set-piece.
I'm really, really hoping that all of our LA Galaxy players are totally pumped, readied, and brimming with energy and fight tomorrow. We have to play very well. Come on guys - we can't keep giving away points - Stop this goals against hemoraghing. (On another note, Houston Dynamo is moping the floor against Chivas USA. 4 - 0, at the END of 1st HALF! SICK! Houston Dynamo has definitely found their form - I smell another MLS Cup for them - damn!!!!) We only have 10 regular season games left - that's it... it's really coming down to the wire! I really hope our players are learning as much as they can from Bruce & Dave... Come on guys - give it your all down this stretch!

Galaxy fans. Here's the Eddie Lewis update that many of you were asking for. Report comes from Yanks Abraod. Here's the link:

Eddie should provide a quality, dependable, accurate left midfielder. Where Eddie will be ineffective is against right-sided opposing midfielders that can easily manuever around him (Ekpo / Sainey Nyassi / De Rosario / Ronnie O'Brien / etc.)
But, Eddie will help getting the balls out of the left crossed onto Landon / Gordo / Buddle / David. I really hope he works very well with all of our team members. We need players who are tough in play & in mind. Watching how Houston played today against Chivas - let's say there was an inner midget in me shrieking - not in a good way!
