· With the draw, the Galaxy are now 6-8-6 on the season leaving them with 24 points. The Galaxy remain in fourth place in the Western Conference, one point behind third place FC Dallas and one point ahead fifth place Chivas USA.
· Tonight’s game was Cobi Jones’ first game in charge as the Galaxy’s interim head coach. He is just the second interim head coach in Galaxy history, following Ralph Perez who won his only game in charge during the 1999 season.
· Jones made one change to his starting lineup from the Galaxy’s last game, a 3-2 loss at San Jose on August 3. Alvaro Pires was brought back into the starting lineup, replacing Alan Gordon who began the game on the bench.
· With the draw, the Galaxy’s season-long winless streak has been stretched to eight games. The Galaxy are 0-4-4 in those eight games and have been outscored 21-12 in that stretch, allowing two or more goals in seven of the eight games.
· With the draw, the Galaxy won the Honda SuperClasico trophy, which is the season series between the Galaxy and Chivas USA. The Galaxy won once and earned draws in the other two matches, for five points compared to the two for Chivas USA. The Galaxy have now won the Honda SuperClasico in three of the four years that the competition has been contested.
· Landon Donovan scored the game’s opening goal in the eighth minute to regain sole possession of the MLS lead in goals. The goal was Donovan’s career-best 14th goal of the season, one more than FC Dallas’ Kenny Cooper.
· Alan Gordon’s game-tying goal in the second minute of second half stoppage time was his fourth of the season, tying a career-high. Three of his four goals have come against Chivas USA.
· Gordon’s goal was the second time this season that the Galaxy have scored a second half stoppage time goal to turn a defeat into a tie. Landon Donovan also scored in the 92nd minute to give LA a 2-2 draw in New York on July 19.
· The attendance for today’s game was 27,000.
· The Galaxy are back in action on Thursday, August 21, when they take on the Chicago Fire at The Home Depot Center. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on ESPN2. The match will also be available live on the radio in English on 1150 AM and in Spanish on KWKW 1330 ESPN Deportes.

This is NOT a rip on Cobi. I respect and admire Cobi; he, in fact, showed the right types of attention adn expressions on the side-lines during this last Super Classico game. This was LA's game to definitely take away a solid win. Chivas USA had much more critical players injured for their team. We should have made all of those chances count. But, I'm not going to dwell on that. With Landon, Edson, Alan, Ely, David, and Izzy (at some point, I guess?) getting into the mix... we'll score goals. Scoring goals is NOT the issue. It's our awful, nasty defending! It's just deplorable! Please - Please I know that Tim, Cobi, Trevor, adn Paul sees these things on the field. Greg and Pete have to go; they have to go away from Galaxy. It must be done. Make the necessary changes soon. Make the changes - before it gets worse and out of our hands!!!

I sincerely hope that we are still able to pick up and sign Eddie Lewis. We could used all of the skill, smartness, hard-work rate type of players we can get. We are in such a desparate need of hard-working, skilled, fighting, "no nonsense" type of players. We only have 10 more games left to decide out bleak fate until 2008 MLS championships.

Another winless games, no doubt had Sasha played for Chivas, we wouldve lost. Tho, we had multiple opportunities to score and didnt convert. Having said that, I feel that the Galaxy needs to focus on converting every single opportunity that they get ! You cannot let these chances keep slipping thru your fingers or this season will be toast ! The offense is doing great but whats the deal with the defense? This is some absolute bullshit ! I dont get it, whats being done to get some decent defensive players??

i do have to say this about the game....Cronin has to be player on the match!!! with all of those saves he made because the defense messed up he was one of the hardest working players on the field! and what pete and beckham did with the trophy afterwords was priceless!! lifting the trophy up to the chivas cheering section was one of the highlights of the game!

Definitely have to give Cronin some praise for this game. He made some fine saves. Are we going to have Beckham, Donovan and Ruiz out for the Chicago game because of international duty? I head Beckham's going to Beijing to close out the ceremonies?!?! I guess this is what we're paying him for... PR trips to Asia. (and you can't rely on the Galaxy's website to announce when Beckham's not playing. Heaven forbid the fans find out.)

Okay, any updates? Any news for us, LA Galaxy fans? What is going on? In Five days we face a powerful, ultra-strong defensive team - Chicago Fire. DO we have any updates in terms of roster? Both Carlos & Landon are already called for World Cup Qualifying. What the heck do we have? Please! Does anybody in the organization care and are serious about us making the play-offs! Please, this is so frustrating! What is happening to improve our defense? What? Why does important stuff like this gets shared?

That was some of the worst officiating I have ever seen, those referees really messed up that game for the Galaxy. If the Refs we had weren't blind, Galaxy would've cleanly won that match. Cobi Jones did very well, it was not his fault that some people can not make the right calls.
