Galaxy Academy Falls to Blackburn Rovers

The first games of the tour are in the books as both the Galaxy Academy teams lost to Academy teams from Blackburn Rovers this afternoon at the club's training ground in Brockhall.

One of the nation's top academy programs, having developed players such as David Dunn, Shay Given, Damian Duff, James Beattie and many more, and after seeing their squad up close, I'm sure that a few of the lads that played today will soon become household names as well.

In cold and blustery conditions that they are unaccustomed to, the Galaxy players battled throughout their games despite Blackburn's pedigree and in many cases, sheer physical strength. The U-16s even took an early lead in the game with Neil Ignacio scoring just minutes into the U-16 match. After setting up Ignacio's opener, Dyllan Stevens would add a pair for the U-16's and Nathaniel Schnitman grabbed a fourth in a 7-4 defeat while Ruben Valencia would score the only goal for the U-18's as they fell 6-1.

We interviewed all three of these guys as well as some others today, so be sure to check back here and at lagalaxy.com for all the latest.

Thanks fo rthe updates - but, what were the final scores??? Go ahead publish it - let us know. The youngsters were out there getting chances and learning experiences of a life-time. I think for those of us who closely follow soccer, play it, and understand it fully realize that our Academy youngsters will be totally mismatched. Again, this is for their benefit; they need to know what they have to do day-in & day-out to be in top at this sport.
Let us know the scores with some video feedback, as well!

So the U-16s scored four goals and lost? That's actually cause for optimism, defense is mostly about organization anyway, and aren't the kids still relatively early in their season?
