• Bruce Arena used the same starting lineup from the 3-1 win at New York on Thursday.
• The Galaxy were without Sean Franklin, Dema Kovalenko and Julian Valentin who all missed the game through injury. They were the only players who did not dress for LA in this match.
• David Beckham and Chris Birchall each made their 2009 home debuts after officially being added to the club’s roster last week.
• Edson Buddle left the game in the 23rd minute with a hyperextended big toe on his right foot. He was replaced by Alan Gordon.
• Milan took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Thiago Silva flicked a Davide Di Gennaro freekick past Donovan Ricketts to make the score 1-0 Milan.
• Gordon scored the Galaxy’s first goal in the 30th minute, finishing off a move that began with a long cross field pass from David Beckham that found Landon Donovan, who squared the ball across the box for Gordon to hit first time past Zeljko Kalac, making the score 1-1.
• With the goal, Gordon has now scored five goals in international friendlies since the start of the 2008 preseason. He scored in Seoul and Hong Kong during the 2008 preseason, in Vancouver in May 2008 and in Auckland during the 2008 postseason.
• Bryan Jordan also scored for the Galaxy, tying the score at 2-2 in the 64th minute, heading home a David Beckham corner kick.

• Four different players wore the captain’s armband for the Galaxy, starting with Landon Donovan, who gave it to Eddie Lewis at halftime. When Lewis left the game, he gave the armband to David Beckham who then passed it on to Chris Klein who wore it for the final 15 minutes after Beckham was replaced by Mike Magee.
• David Beckham finished the game with two assists. The only Galaxy player to record two assists in a game this season is Landon Donovan, who had two in the 3-2 loss to Colorado on April 4.
• Only Yohance Marshall and Tristan Bowen dressed but did not play for the Galaxy.
• Omar Gonzalez and A.J. DeLaGarza each played the full 90 minutes.
• The attendance for today’s game was 27,000.

That was a great game and I think we finally have a TEAM!!!! We played well and despite the booing at Beckham's every touch, in the beginning, he proved why he is a legend. There were not nearly so many boos after 2 assists and some great play on Becks' part. Great to have him back.

Excellent atmosphere; incredible attendance; and a really good night to enjoy football/soccer. It was nice seeing international stars of that magnitude at the HDC. I was sitting in a section that consistently had screaming AC Milan fans calling out Gennaro Gattuso's name. And, I also heard the boos in the beginning from many a Galaxy fan as David touched the balls... And,a s the commentor above stated... boos turned to silence... which turned to clapping. My sincere hope is that David manages to stay match fit, HEALTHY, and always in tune/communicating with the back-line and mid-field for the duration of his stay this season. It is immediately apparent the kind of quality decisions and touches and passing he brings to this team. I know that AJ & Omar are getting all these minutes of playing - good, happy to see that... but, seriously, Bryan Jordan, Kyle Patterson, and Leonard Griffin could use way more minutes also! The quality of AC Milan team's handling of the ball, positioning, and using off-set positioning to move the ball around the midfield was such a pleasure to see. I thought that Omar & AJ still relied too much on back-passing and "safety" passes during this match. They're good young players - and, I'm glad we have them... but, someway & somehow ALL of the youngsters need to be taught to move th ball forward under pressure by using the very same off-set positioning and one- two- touch techniques. Again, personally, I thought Eddie Lewis once again had a "bear" of a night... There were many crosses of his that were off; and, he constantly had to track back after a blind-pass or turn-over. The wing-position & player is a difficult position to be strong & excellent at... it takes incredible awareness, numerous attempts at tracking back, and even more effort at pushing and holding for release to forwards and attacking midfielders. But, I was immensely proud of the hustle and pressure from David, Landon, Stefani, Chris Birchall, Gregg, Tony, and Alan. I think the extra time on the practice-field and consistent help from other players have helped Alan along. I was surprised at the depth of his effort. Sorry to hear about Edson's injury... I have a feeling he will be out trying to recover for a good 2-3 weeks. It's his big-toe on his right foot; the good shooting foot; the holding foot; the manuevering foot. That means that Alan & Bryan have to work harder and step up their contribution! Players must be able to execute UNDER PRESSURE; this means the ball has to keep moving (preferably FORWARD, NOT BACKWARDS!

Hey Charles, you are definetly starting to bore me,and at one time I'd log on just to view your opinion, but again, opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one.
You talk about Omar & AJ using the Backpass to much? Your kidding right? Soccer isn't just about moving forward, its pretty funny how those 2 have been apart of this Galaxy Season, and contributed, even as ROOKIESSSS.Your right tho, they just played 90+minutes on Thrusday, arrived back in L.A on friday, and played another 90+ minutes Sunday Night against power AC Milan, and they were the only 2 Galaxy Players asked to give 90. Try to enjoy the wins to come Charles, quit always tring to sound like some hot shot wannabe coach that always has to find some kind of fault. And if you are an Ex-Coach,there has to be a reason why your not coaching anymore, maybe its due to your faults, what you think? Try for once to stay positive Charles,or go write for Dear Abby, pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

It is sad to see Galaxy fans booing arguably the best player on the field from both teams. David Beckham was superb and put the explanation point on a very well played game for all the Galaxy players.
It is hard to understand why fans cannot accept that David wants to become the greatest English player of all time. In order to do so he has to continue to hone his skills in the much more sophisticated soccer arena in Europe. This will give him the chance to play for England in the next World Cup in 2010.
The fans do not boo many of the USA senior players that have gone to Europe to improve their soccer skills, so why boo David.
To sum it up our Galaxy team is far better with him, now support him.

I agree with Tony. We LA fans forgive Manny for steroid use, Kobe Bryant for inappropriate behavior and cannot forgive Beckham for trying to make it onto his international team. Time to get behind him and make him want to stay. LA is a great sports city (forget no football team) and support our teams/players.
I too am tired of Charles-stop the negativity.

Anonymous,
I do agree that my commenting for the most part is generally of the same substance and end-points... thusly, "boring". Please, if you have a scroll-mouse on your computer, do use it continuously when coming across my "repetitive commenting". A scroll-mouse is a must-have accessory on this blog!
I do understand the times and the conditions for back-passes; and, agreed - as youngsters/rookies - AJ & Omar have contributed to the dynamic play and its defensive shape considerably - I don't think I've ever stated to the contrary. But, when getting out onto the field, putting on the uniforms, and participating in life-time opportunities to play against players / teams like AC Milan or Chelsea / Inter Milan / FC Barcelona... then, always resorting to back-passing does become modes of weakness and desperation. You can hurl & deny to the contrary all you want... but, if one is to play against these kind of players in these kinds of opportunities - then, play with the belief and conviction and risk-taking that conveys to those opponents that "we won't quiver and drop back into a defensive conundrum".
Believe me - I am daily trying to think, reflect, and be mindful of all the positives in our team startign with this year. And, there are several, wonderful, bright-spots. I am not trying to find faults - but, to those, who play the game, watch the game, and study the game... when items jump out at us that need to be addressed... then, yes - I'm going to mention them.
As far as referring to me as a "... some hot shot wannabe coach..." - well, if that's how I am viewed - alright - so be it - there are much, much worse things to be called out as. Oh, by the way - consider practicing what you preach... it'll go a long way in allowing others to take credence to what you have to say!
