A busy day keeps getting busier, as Donovan Ricketts has officially been called up by Jamaica for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Reggae Boyz begin the tournament here at The HDC on Friday against Canada, so it is possible that Ricketts will be back in goal for the Galaxy on Saturday night against the Revs.

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, July 1, 2009) – LA Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts has been called into the Jamaican National Team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Ricketts will meet up with the rest of the National Team in Los Angeles on Wednesday ahead of their first game of the tournament against Canada at The Home Depot Center on Friday, July 3.
Ricketts, who is one of five MLS-based players in the Jamaican squad, has 72 caps during his international career/ A member of Jamaica’s squad at the 1998 World Cup, Ricketts played his first game for the Reggae Boyz in 2001. He made his last appearance for his country in December 2008 when he helped lead Jamaica to the Digicel Caribbean Championship, earning them a berth in this year’s Gold Cup.
Jamaica has been placed in Group A along with Canada, Costa Rica and El Salvador. Following their game against Canada on Friday, Jamaica will face Costa Rica in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, July 7 before rounding out group play against El Salvador in Miami on Friday, July 10.
The 32-year old goalkeeper is in his first season with the Galaxy after signing with the club in December. He has played in 13 games this season, recording a 3-2-8 record with three clean sheets and a 1.00 goals against average. A candidate for the MLS All-Star Game, Ricketts was named the MLS Player of the Week after keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Chivas USA in his MLS debut on April 11. Last week Ricketts won the MLS Save of the Week Award for the first time and he has been nominated for the award once again been nominated for the award this week for his late save off a close range shot from Cam Weaver that clinched a 1-0 win for the Galaxy.

Good luck on Friday against Canada, Sir Don. As always wish you a great game & steady/solid showing. Man, I sure hope our HDC pitch is in okay condition by Saturday night for our game. There's going to be two Open Cup games at the HDC back-to-back on Friday.
Okay, what about today's practice session? What's the word? I sincerely hope Dave & Cobi are spending a LOT of time with Kyle Patterson, Bryan Jordan, Stefani Miglioranzi, Jovan Kirovski, Alan Gordon, Edson Buddle, and Alecko. Because, New England Revs have definite speed in some of their players (I believe on their flanks)> Not to mention Shalrie & Jeff manning the center of the field. Our game with New England is going to be about posession, control, and finding openings for quick, strong releases. Most importantly, posesssion and control. The midfield, especially have a lot of ground to cover... And, the forwards have to chip in considerably. We need to play confident, positive, and quick. Please coaches - work more with our midfielders and forwards. They've got to be able to keep the ball, keep it moving, and be quick to strip it away from the Revs.
where are the pictures for training? do you guys have any word on

David Beckham has come under attack from L.A. Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan just as he prepares to return for action with the MLS team.
In a new book due out later this month, Donovan claims Beckham has demonstrated little commitment to the Galaxy cause and has been a negative influence on the team since the ousting of former coach Ruud Gullit.

I also hope that Alecko gets to start and play most of the game on Saturday night. According to the MLS game-guide, you are right... Shalrie Joseph is listed as "OUT" with recovering from Bone-Brusing/Knee Cartilage Defect. Sounds quite serious. But, sometimes the game-guides are not really up-to-date "real time". So, I'm still going to assume that Shalrie will make an appearance on Saturday night, if Steve Nicol senses he needs to get control of the match.
Does anyone know if Dema is around - or in town? He is another one that's still listed as "QUESTIONABLE". May be, he's getting a well-deserved break and re-charge for the Chivas USA match-up coming on Jul. 11th! I am so amped for that game! Oh, please let that be a mighty, all-out, thunderous game!!!
