Catching Up With David

The This Week Inside the Galaxy staff made their way down to El Segundo on Saturday afternoon for the MLS WORKS and adidas "Footprint Field" event with David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane. We caught up with the Galaxy midfielder to get his thoughts on his return to the club.

Check it out...

Well, David... All I can ask for and hope for is that you're back here with the LA Galaxy to play with conviction, heart, desire, and intention to getting this LA Galaxy team into the playoffs. I know a player of your stature and calibre feels much more at home and in sync with world-renown clubs like AC Milan / Real Madrid / Manchester United... but, you willingly adn knowingly made a pact/contract with LA Galaxy and MLS to be here and play with us and for us. So, please - please, I'm begging you... stay invested and interested and committed to the LA Galaxy to get this team into the playoffs.
MLS is going to be much more physically taxing on David's body that Italian Serie-A. He better be fully aware and ready for that.
On another note, it is wonderful to see ZZ (Zizou) again. Such an amazing player to see on the field. Incredible creativity and awareness.

God, I hate you David Beckham. Please go away. You don't care about this league, you don't care aobut this team. You are a hypocrit and shameful.

Just get out.

And Tim Leiweke - shame on you for ever bringing this pretty boy, nancy pants here to begin with. Thanks for ruining our team.

So, you Beckham haters would rather have a second-rate, can't cut-it in Germany crybaby than a world class player?
The sad part about Donovan is that he somehow thinks he and Beckham are equals which allows him the right to rip on him.
The Galaxy would be much better off losing Landon and getting some more players who have actually played on good teams.

I am for whatever works... If Beckham is the answer, then fine. If LD's not able to handle it,then lets fine someone that can make it happen for the Galaxy. I think we have addressed our biggest fault, and thats our storeid Bad Past Defenses. I think we are looking better and better each week, and I honestly feel thats due to the D-E-F-E-N-S-E playing solid ball on the pitch. And Charles,to your comment to Becks >>> "stay invested and interested and committed to the LA Galaxy to get this team into the playoffs." Well shit on that, I think we were heading to the playoffs before his arrival,so don't make it seem like we will only get there with his help, cause I think our current Galaxy Squad is starting to jellllllllllllllllllll

We missed you David! Welcome back!!

Well done Troy, keep it up.

We love everyone who puts on this shirt and wants to keep it on. The "me firsts" hiding behind "I-want-to-play-for-my-country" and prostituting themselves for "records" sake can move on.

Bill Jackson: Couldn't agree with you more. Donovan the biggest wannabe ever. Nicole, why would you hate somebody you don't even know? As a player I have no respect for Donovan but hate him I don't know him.

I'm a Becks fan because throughout his years especially at Man Utd he showed commitment to the team. His image has always been about team first. Therefore I support LD on his comments. It's time for Becks to show some love to the Galaxy on the pitch and in the locker room. Just because you sell shirts and bring hype, doesn't mean you can slack off. Becks throughout his career has never been the fastest or the best but he has always showed heart. Heart is what inspires players to work hard and play hard, so enough of the circus and start playing with some heart!! You have 3 months to leave a positive impression in this country, I hope you succeed.

In my eyes, Donovan and Beckham are equals. Not because of talent, not because of experience, but because both are in the same team. IMHO If Omar Gonzalez of AJ De La Garza want to rip on a player, it's the just the same. Doesn't matter how much you get paid, if you're on the same team, you have the right to critize. Maybe the media wasn't the best outlet though.

I really don't understand the hate or disrespect for LD - he has off nights..fine. But he is there, he battles, he tries, he shows he cares for the team even back when he played in San Jose. Is he worth the 900K, probably not, but is David worth the 25M, from what he has shown...not even close.

David is like beer, he is the cause and solution to most of the problems. He brings experience, and a killer cross. Critics said last year that that BD was surrounded by talent. Which is true, but it's his indirect fault. His salary is the reason why we had to get rid of so much talent and replace with 30+ year olds, who honestly speaking haven't been as bad as I thought. Some of the blame aslo has to lie on management.

But the big difference is that David didn't leave his team for personal gain. He wants to play for his NAT squad, fine, kudos even. However he has to put the Galaxy first, like LD has shown over the years. This 1 season there and 1/2 season here stuff shouldn't of happened, at least it should have been the other way around. This action doesn't show dedication from DB. I don't hate him or disrespect him, his presence along helps MLS, it just annoys me.

But whatever, it is what it is. As LD said after the Confed Final..."We don't wasn't respect, we want to win." Hopefully now at full strength we could climb the conference ladder faster.

Clearly the only people who love Beckham on this site only follow the Galaxy if hes on the team i bet u wouldnt even care about how they do if he wasnt here! we all know when he gets back were gonna start doing bad again thats how it has been since hes joined the galaxy! Beckham isnt the only man on the team and he sure isnt the most important part of the team! we have done well without him and it should continue without him because he clearly hasnt been committed for the past two years! donovan is right to say if he doesnt play like he wants to be there then he should be benched! in fact i think he should be benched for saturdays game and let the regular starters start since they have worked hard all season and deserve that starting spot and not beckham who comes in half of the season and talks crap about the MLS! i cant wait to see what the riot squad does to him when he gets back!

Let's just say, for arguments sake, that Becks could truly, really, guarantee that the Galaxy would win the championship this year, but he would have to be captain, need an extra bit of cash and LD would ride the bench.(Again, just throwing it out there) Do you mean to tell me that you wouldn't take him up on the deal? If you say "No", you are full of shite and not a fan of the Galaxy. We all want championships, winning seasons and the best team possible.
Truth is, Becks is good for the organisation. Chemistry, team camraderie? Perhaps not. Oh well. Anyone who didn't foresee the power-plays, the second guessing and the fact that our team was being decimated by GM Lalas, was just naive.
Plain and simple, both Beckham and Donovan left on loan-deals for the exact same reasons; greener pastures, the chance to validate their status as professionals and to see if they can play at higher levels than they were subjected to last MLS season. We all know the outcomes.
If Beckhams return to the squad proves to be poison for the team, then it will be mamagements fault if nothing is done. The players will play, I have no doubt about that. Hopefully the BS can be navigated, and they can all play nice together. If not, we must all remember that it takes more than one superstar to ruin a team.
Or maybe just Kirovski is enough. Can anyone tell me why he still has a professional contract in any league? Miserableanzi too, wtf are they doing for the team? I think I've lost my way on several points here.
Lay off Becks, cut Donovan some slack. See what happens. Get rid of Kirovski/Miserableanzi!

I dont understand how my fellow LA Galaxy fans can hate LD. Its stupid and a show of complete ignorance. Do you guys forget during the strech of ties how he was involved in like our first 12 goals! He either assisted or scored them. WTF HOW CAN YOU HATE HIM?!? Didnt you see what kind of heart and emotion he showed for this country??? What do you want to see from him even after 20 goals last year, a goal every game? Am not saying hes worth 900K but he surely deserves respect from you "Galaxy fans". Now DB is another story.

Donovan actually WON a championship for the Galaxy in 2005, so YEAH, he does have room to say whatever he wants, especially when it negatively affects HIS team. Sure, he went on loan to Bayern Munich, but at least he knew when it was time to come home.

I really can't wait for Beckham to leave and all the fake bandwagon Galaxy fans who show up to games purely for the "image" leave as well... leave the HDC for the true fans who love the Galaxy and want to see them successful and not turned into some sort of joke, as Beckham has done.

Will I boo Beckham when he comes back? Maybe. He needs to prove himself on the field as a guy who has played with the best players and teams, as he stated when calling Donovan "unprofessional." If you have so much experience, David, then show it. Don't destroy the team, play 100%, and then leave. Hopefully we will have a better image of you than we do now.

Sure, both Donovan and Beckham left to try and get permanent deals in Europe - but at least Donovan was up-front about it before he left, which allowed Bruce to work from day one with the knowledge that Donovan might not be back. Beckham went to Milan and didn't say anything about extending his loan until we were well into preseason. This is why we traded for Magee and Kirovski, but didn't pick up a right mid!
