Semifinal Berth on the Line at Starfire

A berth in the semifinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and a date with Chivas USA (on September 1) is on the line tonight when the Galaxy take on the Seattle Sounders FC at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash. this evening. The Galaxy have reached the semifinals of the Open Cup six times in the past, winning the competition in 2001 and 2005, while the Sounders are the reigning Open Cup champions after lifting the trophy in their inaugural season last year.

LA has beaten Seattle twice already this season, including a 4-0 win at Qwest Field in early May. But it will be a new look team that tries to make it a perfect three for three tonight. Bruce Arena has made 10 changes to the team that beat Seattle 3-1 on Sunday night, with only Omar Gonzalez, who is suspended for Saturday's game at New England, in the starting lineup for both games.
