Galaxy Ease Past Hollywood United 8-0 [UPDATED WITH VIDEO]

We'll have a lot from Landon's meeting with the press today, but before he could get to that, he had some business to take care of on the training field as the Galaxy took on Hollywood United in their penultimate preseason game of the year.

Edson Buddle scored three times, Landon Donovan added an pair and Tristan Bowen, Michael Stephens and A.J. DeLaGarza all added singular tallies as the Galaxy cruised to an 8-0 victory, which was their biggest win of the preseason.

Most players played 45 minutes in the game, which saw the Galaxy take a 5-0 lead at halftime before adding three more in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.

Edson scored his first goal of the game after just five minutes before Tristan added a second five minutes later to set LA on their way to the win. Edson added goals in the 22nd and 31st minute to complete his second hat trick of the preseason.

Landon scored his first goal just before the break to make the score 5-0. He then set up LA's sixth goal of the game, getting free in the box before laying the ball off for Michael Stephens to calmly finish.

A.J. DeLaGarza then added his first goal of the preseason three minutes later, finishing a Todd Dunivant cross before Landon completed the rout with his second goal of the game.

Galaxy Lineup: Donovan Ricketts (Josh Saunders 46'); Alex Cazumba (Todd Dunivant 46'), Omar Gonzalez, Leonardo (Yohance Marshall 46'), Sean Franklin (A.J. DeLaGarza 46'); Dema Kovalenko (Chris Birchall 46'), Eddie Lewis (Bryan Jordan 46'), Juninho (Michael Stephens 46'), Tristan Bowen (Chris Klein 46'); Landon Donovan, Edson Buddle (Mike Magee 46'/Tristan Bowen 60')

Here are some of the highlights...

In other news from the day:

- Clint Mathis warmed up with the second half squad during half time of the game, passing the ball around and playing some 5v2. He remains on pace to return to training soon and he could be available for the season opener against New England.

- Mike Magee entered the game at halftime but was removed 15 minutes later as a precautionary measure after feeling tightness in his back. Tristan Bowen re-entered the game in his place and played the final 30 minutes up front with Landon.

Despite exiting the game, Magee is expected to be available for training tomorrow.

- Gregg Berhalter was given the day off today. He was in attendance at the game but did not play. He will be back at training tomorrow morning.

- Chris Klein is scheduled to fly to the East Coast later this afternoon for more CBA negotiations with MLS. He will be joined later in the week by Todd Dunivant and Landon Donovan, though both of those guys will be back in LA ahead of Sunday's game against Aguila.

- Andrew Green, one of the two players who earned a tryout with the Galaxy U-20's at the Open Tryout earlier this month, was in the Hollywood United lineup for today's game.

Btw, got my season ticket package today. Very poor production quality and for the second year in a row the cheap scarf doesn't have the correct colors. Thumbs way down!

The opening 45 minutes of the second half? How long was the second half?

Are there any updates on Jovan Kirovski and Alan Gordon? Are they also doing any field drills and 4-v-4s or 5-v-2s? Remember, there has got to be fit, practiced, and ready players to be inserted into games as subs when those situations arise! Our club have too many games to play this season - we need ALL players to be fully up & ready to contribute an effective 45 minutes!
What about Bryan Jordan? Was he not at this test match?
