Galaxy's Two Players Out on Loan Suffer First Defeats

It was a tough weekend for both David Beckham and Landon Donovan as they suffered their first losses with AC Milan and Everton respectively.

On Saturday morning, Donovan once again started on the right side of midfield in Everton's FA Cup Fourth Round match against Birmingham City at Goodison Park. Donovan's side found themselves behind 2-0 at the break and despite a 56th minute goal from Leon Osman, could not find an equalizer and were eliminated from the competition which they reached the final of last season.

Donovan played 76 minutes before being replaced by Spanish international Mikel Arteta, who was making his first appearance in nearly a year.

A day later, Milan saw their three-game winning streak snapped in a 2-0 loss to Serie A leaders Inter in the Milan derby at the San Siro. Beckham once again started on the right wing in Milan's 4-3-3 formation, but after helping the team to score 12 goals in his first three games in the lineup, the Rossoneri were unable to find a breakthrough against their rivals.

Inter scored and had a man sent off on either side of halftime, finishing the game with nine men, but still holding on for the win thanks to goals from Diego Milito and Goran Pandev.

Beckham played the full 90 minutes for Milan, who are now nine points behind Inter at the top of the Serie A standings.

Milan are back in action on Wednesday when they host Udinese in the Quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia, while Everton also return to action on Wednesday, when they host Sunderland in the Premier League.

I honestly want Everton FC to do better, but, realistically to be back in the top-5 of the EPL might be very taxing and difficult. It's not that they can't - it's so much an issue of money and talent... I admire Everton FC for sticking with their players, their style, and their means (budget) to play amongst the big-pockets in EPL. And, I'm glad that Landon is getting actual playing time with that team.
David can only do so much with AC Milan when playing against Inter... Inter have the right group/collection of players to get the job done consistently.
I believe that both of them will get better and benefit each other when back on our team from constant playing-minutes. However, we are not going to see either of them (somehow, I feel) back with the G's until after the World Cup!

Beckham will be back...there's nothing worth discussing about that.

He'll have played in his world cup and will still be able to stiff us for every dollar we're willing to throw at him. There's no motivation for him to leave. Realistically he won't hold up at an international level to play in the 2012 Euro's so leaving to Europe isn't worth throwing away all that money.

Landon might leave (its far more likely than Beckham), but I still believe Landon will be back. Everton aren't big spenders, never have been, and it will take some serious coin to get Landon out of a 4 year deal...especially with the likes of Tim Leiweke.
