2010 MLS SuperDraft is Now Complete

The Galaxy made just one pick in today's SuperDraft, though they were able to turn that pick into two players in Michael Stephens and Clint Mathis.

Here is a quick video of Arena talking about Stephens, who was one of five UCLA players taken in today's draft, four of whom played with the Galaxy's U-20 team.

And here are the complete interviews with Bruce and Michael

I think HC Bruce and HA Dave made the most of the situation they were in with respect to the 2010 MLS Draft. Quite honestly, LA did not have any high-enough picks nor the necessary number of picks to do major wheeling and dealing (unlike FC Dallas). If Clint's got his mind and heart in the game and with the G's - then, it's a super addition to our team. I think Michael Stephens will work out to be another tough, necessary player for the G's - I just hope he constantly trains and proves that he's got the focus and drive that Bruce and Dave are looking for. Plus, the fact that he's young always is a PLUS. Somehow, I think we're not quite done - I think there are at least two more players we're probably gonna pick-up before March 2010. I'm not disagreeing with "Anonymous" - I think Carlos Costly is a great power forward - and, has a great engine with opportunistic vision of the attacking portion of the field - but, I just don't see HC Bruce and HA Dave picking him up... Bruce, especially, is a HUGE stickler for safe, quarantined, controllable team chemistry. He always needs a group of players HE can manage - not the other way around. Yes, I do think we do need someone in that mold (a hungry, audacious, power-forward constantly threatening) - we'll just have to wait and see if that's in HC Bruce and HA Dave's plans for 2010.
