For the first time this season, Galaxy captain Landon Donovan has been named the MLS Player of the Week. Donovan scored late in the first half of the 1-0 win over Chicago which helped LA book a spot in the postseason for the first time since the 2005 campaign. Click here to learn more about Landon's award. He joins Donovan Ricketts (Week 4 vs. Chivas USA) as the only Galaxy players to win the award this season.
Additionally, Landon's first half lob over Jon Busch (pictured above) has been nominated for the MLS Goal of the Week Award. Watch the goal below with Joe Tutino on the call and click here to vote for Landon as he aims for his second Goal of the Week award this season.

Appreciate this, love seeing the different camera angles and I think Joe Tutino does a great job on the call.
Congrats to Landon but this honor should belong to Omar Gonzalez. Omar played excellent defense all night long. Omar is one of the key reasons that LA had the clean sheet. Omar owned former USMNT player Brian McBride all night long. He won every ball in the air, and covered for the slowness of Berhalter as well, bailing Greg out more than a few times. Sure Landon's goal was nice, but without Omar the Galaxy lose this game.
Congratulations, Landon. Job well done. And you definitely earned this.
You've been the inspirational leader and fine captain all season long and brought this team not only back into the playoffs but leading the Western Conference.
