After already claiming the MLS MVP award, scoring the MLS Goal of the Year, winning the Galaxy's Golden Boot for the fifth straight year as the club's top scorer, the team MVP award and a host of other prizes for his play with the Galaxy, as well as the Honda Player of the Year award as the top player with the U.S. National Team, Galaxy captain Landon Donovan has now added a triumvirate of other awards from the folks at U.S. Soccer.
After claiming the Best Goal and Best Assist awards last week in the annual Best of U.S. Soccer voting at ussoccer.com, the 27-year old has now been named the 2009 U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year. You can learn more about the award here while also seeing a video of Landon thanking everyone who made this honor possible.
So Galaxy fans, join us in congratulating Landon Donovan, the 2009 U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year.

Bravo, Landon. Absolutely incredible. For an encore, next year lead the US to the World Cup title!
Dream on!
WOOT! Congrats LD :) Well-deserved, of course.
I want to wish Landon all the best for the coming loan to Everton FC in the EPL. I know he will have a great time maintaining fitness and getting to understand the EPL training regimen. I just hope he just keeps constantly working on attacking more frequently on frame of goal... and, of course, to score past the keeper! :-)
Hope Landon comes back to the LA Galaxy with incredible fitness, stamina, uninjured, and ready to score goals in plenty.
As far as dominating our group in WC 2010... well, personally, I think the US team is in for a very difficult battle. I do NOT think the US team is going to "out-muscle" their opponents. I really, really hope Charlie Davies gets well and starts to train in full after March 2010. And, I hope the US team gets some more younger international, namely, European club playing, (US born) talent into the squad soon!!!
