Notes:
With the loss the Galaxy are now 2-3-9 on the season, leaving them tied for fifth place with Real Salt Lake. Both teams are two points behind fourth place Colorado and five points ahead of seventh place FC Dallas.
• Bruce Arena made four changes to the team that lost to Real Salt Lake 2-0 at The Home Depot Center last weekend. With Eddie Lewis out due to a one game suspension and Dema Kovalenko unavailable due to a left calf contusion, Arena brought in Kyle Patterson to play on the left and Chris Klein on the right. Replacing Alan Gordon and Josh Tudela in the lineup are Stefani Miglioranzi and Edson Buddle, who returns for his second start of the season.
• Josh Saunders was not in the lineup for the second time this season after suffering a sprained right ankle in training last week. Taking his place on the bench was MLS League Pool goalkeeper Kevin Guppy. Guppy was on the bench for the Galaxy two weeks ago in their friendly win over CS Herediano on Tuesday and was in the 18-man squad for an official MLS game for the second straight week.
• The Galaxy were also without the injured Sean Franklin and Yohance Marshall who are both on the Disabled List with hamstring and knee injuries respectively.
• Landon Donovan also missed the game while with the U.S. National Team at the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.
• Wearing the captain’s armband for the first time this season will be someone other than captain Landon Donovan or vice-captain Eddie Lewis. With both players unavailable due to national team duty and suspension respectively, Chris Klein will be donned the armband today against the Quakes.
• With the start, Klein extended his MLS record consecutive games played streak to 127games.
• Pablo Campos’ 6th minute penalty kick goal for San Jose put the Galaxy behind 1-0. With Gregg Berhalter’s foul on Campos in the box, the Galaxy have now given up three penalty kicks this season, all were converted for goals.
• LA have now allowed the first goal in ten of their 14 games this season, going 0-3-7 in those ten games.
• The 1-0 halftime deficit for the Galaxy meant that the club has now trailed at the half five times, going 0-2-3 in those games and have failed to score in the opening 45 minutes in nine of their 14 games.
• San Jose’s Ryan Johnson gave the Earthquakes a 2-0 advantage in the 54th minute. Johnson’s sixth goal of the season was assisted on by Campos and Chris Leitch.
• Jovan Kirovski’s 65th minute goal pulled the Galaxy to within one of the Earthquakes 2-1 lead. The goal marked Kirovski’s first since October 7, 2007 against Toronto FC.
• Donovan Ricketts has now allowed more than one goal in a game for the third time this season, with both occurrences previously coming against Real Salt Lake.
• With his second loss, Ricketts is now 2-2-8 in goal on the season.
• The loss today was the Galaxy’s second in their all-white uniforms. LA had opened the season 2-0-8 in their white shirt and white shorts before losing the last two matches.
Today’s game was the Galaxy's second game on the Deuce this season, the first ended in a 1-1 draw against Chivas USA on April 11. In the last three seasons, the Galaxy's record on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 is 2-8-5 overall, 1-5-2 on the road.
• The attendance for today’s game was 17,128.
• The Galaxy are back in action on Sunday, June 28 when they host the Houston Dynamo at The Home Depot Center. That game kicks off at 7 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on ESPN2.

We got beat by San Jose... SAN JOSE!!! Let the locker room just sulk the whole of next week. LAME DUCKS! 60+ minutes of sheer despeartion! NOT FLUID SOCCER; BUT, HUFFING & PUFFING TO CATCH-UP. Of course, Bruce and the padded, snuggly-wuggly players will of course see it differently. The ref? The pitch? The heat? Over-inflated balls, perhaps?

one word sums it up
PATHETIC

I want the coach and the team (ALL OF THE PLAYERS & ASSTS) to sit watch and re-watch the Seattle FC against Red Bulls game. Because, I see a Seattle team never backing down. Never making excuses. Always pushing hard - and, a team that seriously have the heart and the balls to go the distance. Instead, people in our LA Galaxy organization are pulling hte magic dust & shady wools over everyone's eyes with their smiles and their suits - collecting monies - and, making us believe that nice guys, chartiy work & visits, birthday parties, and fru-fru is enough to make up a soccer team. Please, Please - stop this travesty against all of us. Get the players we need to bring the fight, the vigor, the posession, and the ball movement this club needs and deserves. This is your NUMBER ONE (#1) DUTY, Bruce! Don't argue - Don't ponder - and, don't stand for anything else other than true, sustaining, empowered soccer!

Seriously, is this club content with having as fewer wins as possible? If we keep thinking like that, we'll never go back to the postseason.

Bruce said he is wholly responsible for the player selection at the STH event at the end of last season. Well Bruce, what do you got to say for yourself now?

That was really bad! Terrible!

This is frustrating to have season seats for 4 years now and have disappointing results, year after year. Yes, in sports, teams have their ups and downs, but this team has no promise to climb up in performance. Bruce is a great coach and it takes time to rebuild a team, but why with players who should be retiring soon? We have the oldest team in the league and most of them are new to our team. Good thing the FO gave us five bonus games, because after this year, I dont want to have credit on file or anything. I will not be investing in backing a team with no spirit or desire for winning. It is devasting to say so, but 2009will be my last season as season ticket holder of 4 seats. I appreciate the improvement of customer service and communication, but it takes more than phone calls and emails to keep me interested in the team for the rest of the year and next year. Performance is key and LA Galaxy is struggling. Thank you Don Garber for allowing Leiweke run this team to the ground, it is greatly unappreciated. Let Beckham buy the team and bring soccer back to the Galaxy and organization.

Man,this is Bruces 1st full season here,to listen to some of you, you'd of thinked he was here for several years. 1st you all cry cuz of all the losses last year, then you cry cuz of all the ties this year, and now you cry over a few losses. I see a difference in this years team, all those ties we have would of been losses last year,so make up your mind. CHARLES, why don't you take your happy ass on the field and lets see what you can do? You seem to talk a good one, you sound like a rejected coach from the past,so get a grip. As for footballlvr's comment about loving to see beck again,he dosen't seem to give a crap about this team, the only thing he has left is his name,so maybe you could root for that, cuz his soccer days have been numbered. Why did the team draft Gonzales, cuz of his heighth? That seems to be all he has,or was it due to him winning a national championship? His countepart AJ has won 2 national championships in 2005 & 2009,and started 4 years ,I don't see any of his counterparts on this team. maybe it's due to Gonzales being a generation player this year and the galaxy not having to pay his salary,so they basically get a free player,a player who is starting to make alot of mistakes, rookie or not. You talk about LD, as they stated, 80% of his goals on this team and the USA team come from PK's,when was the last true true goal LD has put in the net? Berhalter, all I hear about is how tuff and experienced he is,thats funny, cuz all i have seen is how good he is at pulling jerseys, and taking players down, and whys that? CUZ HE KEEPS GETTING BEAT, plain and simple. I do see this team taking a turn for the better.

Hey anonymous, so are you pissed or not? Im a little confused as to your point, but I do agree with some of what you're saying.
I don't think anyone but bruce is happy with Berhalter and if Sanneh got more playing time, the same could/would be said about him. Omar is very slow. maybe time will tell. AJ looks promising. Dema has the fight and tenacity this team needs. Dunivant, was a great aquisition. Ricketts has been amazing thus far.
Kirovski, Miserableanzi, Berhalter, Sanneh . . . great guys I'm sure, but well passed their prime. Except Kirovski, he's never had a prime.
Yeah, I want some wins. I don't see that as a problem, thats what I've paid for, for the last five years. If I cant watch the team win, then I want to watch them play with some passion AND attitude, and make the other teams EARN their victories. Give me something to be excited about.

Sorry MARK, I guess a little of both. I can see where the frustation lies with the fans, but the true fans knows this year is definetly better then last year. You really want to get confused? Wait till Houston comes to town and we own them the whole game, and totally dominate, now that will confuse me.........

You obviously don't have a clue about football, skills or the business of football. Do any of the players care about his team? MLS are not allowed to become teams. Drafts, studip rules, salary caps, parity, it will never work. Same with the abomination, AYSO, and their philosophy.
